That "rumour" is about 5 years old Charles, and was actually an April fools joke by the local rag

Hastings has all of the crime and drug problems associated with being a city, unfortunately we have no public transport to speak of, poor nightlife, a mediocre theatre, very few live bands of any note play here - cave and strummer played a few years back but now our pier has been closed by the health and safety brigade and they want £17,000,000 to fix it.
We do however, seem to be getting the reject trendies from Brightons North lanes and Camden town.

Hastings has got loads of potential, but no bugger can get there. All you need are some decent ways in and out of the place, the A21 is truly shit, and the A27 is not exactly a freeway.

same here don't think its the worst place in the UK or the world but been here a bit too long hence why I might overant a bit, no offence like Dave (sorry if I have). I will keep my views on Crawley a bit quiet from now on.

Rumour is there will be a new high speed rail link to london and a bypass round the town as part of the A27 - we will see
