A day off after Remembrance Sunday will just encourage 2 things to happen:
1. Excessive drinking and
2. The first big "Christmas shopping" bonanza day.
Hardly synonymous with respecting the dead.
Personally, I'd like to see a "County Day" when people celebrate the county in which they live. I think it would be great if Sussex had one day a year when the whole county laid on events, markets etc when local produce, drinks, music, business could all be promoted.
I'd make county day the end of May bank holiday and then slip an extra bank holiday monday somewhere around Hallowe'en / Bonfire Night.
