It’s always foolish to predict things on either just one game or before the window shuts.

Nevertheless, Luton don’t seem to have a single Premier League quality player.

Will the passion of the fans and manager see them through? For me, their fans need to enjoy this season for the days out.
Impossible to tell from one game. A lot of it depends on how well and how quickly they learn from their mistakes. Despite being the Premier League there's actually a fair amount of averageness in this league.

I think they'll do alright if they stick together. Possibly not enough to stay up but to make a decent fight of it.

It's not easy to play us in the first game of the season. Even only being in 2nd or 3rd gear There's no real way of 'taking the fight' to us as we'll just play round it. You have to be tactically spot on. There are plenty of teams where they'll be able to do that though and not get outnumbered or played round.

It's going to be a long season for Everton, Wolves, Sheff U and Forest too, so I wouldn't write them off completely.

Given where they've come from and the resources they have available, I'm not sure anything other than a struggle for survival is expected? Anything else would be an incredible achievement.

Good luck to them - I won't be sneering at the #TeamsLikeLuton as I see them as having more in common with us than the so-called big 6

Their home form is going to be vital. Anything away is a bonus.

When they broke they were dangerous at moments. Morris will need his shooting boots.

I agree with @Hugo Rune that there was a worrying lack of dark arts from Luton yesterday. However.....could it perhaps be the case that the new rules have made it less easy to tread on feet, and cynically take out whomsoever has a chance of running onto goal? We shall see properly after we have played Villa and Citeh.

I am more worried about ourselves. That said I haven't yet seen a single decent performance of 90 minutes of quality, like we ourselves managed many times last season, from anyone yet, including citeh. All strangely lackluster. No doubt it will change....

If Sheff Utd do not replace their two best players they just sold I reckon Luton will finish above them. Sheff Utd's performance yesterday was terrible I understand and should have been a 3 point target result.

Chatted to a few of their fans yesterday and they are riding on the same cloud we were when we got to this league. We have much in common in terms of the journey down and up. Like us, they've seen football's best and worst at all levels.

I think Rob Edwards will be a fast learner and they are well coached, Paul Trollope brings some experience of how to stay just above the line. They will need to be very lucky or Gross level shrewd with the comparatively small amounts that they'll spend, but they weren't disgraced yesterday. They were just knackered by the time we brought the Harlem Globetrotters Juniors off the bench.

Their home games will be the key. They have to make it a horrible place to go, like Forest did last year. It may help that Kenilworth Road already seems a horrible place to go and the message I got from the fans I spoke to yesterday is that this season is all about making the money for the new ground. If they get monstered, it will be worth it in the long term.

Finances will obviously mean that they'll struggle but I reckon they'll enjoy a few good days too and will give themselves a chance. I'd be far more worried if I were a Sheffield United fan - conceding 68% possession and 24 shots at home to a bang average Palace side doesn't bode well.

I agree with all of that. They're not the worst team we'll see at the Amex this season, and on yesterday's evidence they won't be the whipping boys of the division either
You really think there will be a worse team down here this season , god if so the Premier has really dropped in standard

Pelly Ruddock was blowing out of his arse after 30 mins. Its a shame as its a nice story that he came with them all the way from the Conference but he can't be starting many more PL games if they have designs on staying up, a player in a key position really in the spine.

I thought the keeper looked OK despite shipping 4

agree with this. Luton will finish above them unless Sheff spend some more, the XI Sheff had out yesterday wouldn't finish top 10 in the league below

Forest, Burnley, Luton, Everton, Wolves, SW….can’t see the bottom of the league changing much throughout the season.
