as 10cc say, not in hove
CHORUS
We don’t like prawns, we don’t wear suits
We’re Brighton fans, with terrace roots
The Ruffians are on the rise
We’ll drink your beer, and eat your pies!

VERSE
Bellotti, Stanley, Archer and the moneymen
Tried to wreck our club – then Lewes tried again
But we all stood together and we won the fight
We’re heading off to Falmer and the future’s bright

CHORUS till beer has run out and all pies are consumed.....

you need to work in that £500 you are putting behind the bar somewhere

Too wordy by far

3/10

Maybe the verse is too a bit too wordy but what about just the Chorus over and over??

CHORUS

We don’t like prawns, we don’t wear suits
We’re Brighton fans, with terrace roots
The Ruffians are on the rise
We’ll drink your beer, and eat your pies!

If thats too wordy I think we're destined to be stuck with the same old songs forever.

:lolol:

Absolute SHITE.

Pretty dissappointing too, that someone who the club has indulged, and allowed 'inside' over all these years, should actively seek to stoke an issue that threatens to prove deeply divisive amongst our fans, at this otherwise brilliant moment in time.

I guess he simply feels duty bound to play up to the 'Atilla - 80's class warrior' character.

I make up a little ditty for a laugh and I get this :) No worries!
The club has never 'indulged' me, I've always said what I think (and am quite prepared to deal with the consequences) and this whole thing is so tongue in cheek it is gargoylesque.....it started, indeed, with a tongue in cheek reference to 'ruffians' by a club representative.....what's your problem? Some of us DO want a return to terracing, and the culture that goes with it - we know we're not going to get that (although every other country in Europe can have it) but we're allowed to have a laugh what's happening to the game we love, aren't we? Of course what is happening is brilliant. I'm not dividing anybody. Calm down, calm down...:)
Oh, and Stumpy, you friendly soul, I'm sure you'll be pleased to knoiw that I'm touring Oz/Nz next year, so I'll see you for a Coopers or ten at the Annandale. Or not, as you choose.

11 years of having to listen to your record collection pre-match suggests otherwise.

As for the song, I mark it 4/10. Like the reference to prawn sandwiches but too wordy and it needs a different tune. Tom Hark is too commonplace.

I don't have a 'problem' and I'm pertectly calm, thanks.

I find this entire faux class-war thing INCREDIBLY tiresome, that's all.

Buzzer - my record collection? I have spent Gawd know how much downloading stuff from itunes to fulfill requests from fans. Many of them on here.
As for the song it was only ever meant to be the chorus, the verse is an optional extra...
It's not faux class war anything, as I'm sure you realise it is simply taking the piss out of the way money rules everything in football these days.
So Stumpy, you live in Leichhardt do you? I love the Annandale. Sold it out the last time i played there as it goes...that was SEVENTEEN years ago, though, so not so confident of repeating same now...

I can imagine.

Most things get a bit dated, over time, don't they?

Well, I'm currently doing a tour celebrating 30 years of earning my living as a poet/musician, doing what I love. I write about what is happening NOW. I haven't been able to tour Oz for ages as all long distance gigs have been put on hold because for the last six years my wife and I have been caring for my mother, who spent six years battling Alzheimer's. She passed away in June, and now I can go back to Oz. Many people will have forgotten about me, some won't. But I am really, really looking forward to it. I don't normally go into personal stuff on here but that post did irritate me a bit....

i think mr attila is spot on we are using a tongue in cheek statement to have a laugh and build up the fan experience for albion fans, the club have done what they see fit to maximise revenue, now its up to us to make sure falmer has a fan culture and atmosphere to match our club and stadium, the club will want a good atmosphere to help ticket sales and give support to the team!:hilton: SO GET ON BOARD THE RUFF BUS:hilton: AND SMILE:wink:

Apologies, I didn't realise that you were the only one allowed to 'take the piss'.

Very sorry to hear about your mother, though.

I write about what is happening NOW.

plus ça change plus c'est la même chose, mon communard.

As it happens, I came across one of your songs on a Son of Oi album I bought at a record fair on Sunday. 'Andy is a Corporatist'. Brought back memories of seeing you play when I was at Uni.

I remember you also doing a song about the then MP for Worthing, Terence Higgins. That gig was the only occasion where I've ever pretended to be a socialist. The girl I met that night would never have let me get near her otherwise. Funny thing is that I have just looked her up on LinkedIn and she's now a buyer for Marks and Spencers. Lucy is (also) a corporatist, I guess.

Absolutely Rev. Spot o.

Buzzer: don't remember the Higgins one, it must have had a very short shelf life - 'Andy is a Corporatist' caused a storm back in the day, got a few black eyes for that one...:)

I'm way more middle class than that. Balmain for me. Will have changed a bit since you went. The Inner West is becoming the place to be for us gentle, white middle-class people. You need to be playing Newtown
