Firstly not really a moan , well done lads job done - bring on Sunday and Ecuador but-

1- where has this sudden inability to deal with corners come from?

2- Beckham - Was he playing last night even his own team mates seemed to think not as the ball was knocked out to J cole at every attempt.

3- Carragher - is it just me or is anyone else waiting to see him skinned by the first decent winger he comes up against.

4- Owens injury for obvious reasons leaves us stupidly low on attacking options - Sven needs his arse kicked for this only taking four including Walcott - lucky for him Rooney seem sto be getting fit. However i did question Owens inclusion in the squad a while back only to be flamed on here.

Other than that not to bad overall - Hargreaves played well would be tempted to satrt with 5 across midfield against ecuador giving Lamps and Gerrard the opportunity to get forward and support Rooney.

Great to see Rooney throwing a wobbler when substituted - the Lad is up for it !

Sudden inability? We've been poor at set-pieces for ages. We concede far too many goals from corners and free-kicks.

I haven't seen all the games so I could be wrong on this, but wasn't that rhe first goal to be conceded from a corner in this WC?

Bit harsh on Carragher: he's not a full back (and at least he's not Danny Mills). When's Neville back?

Beckham does little in open play. He increasingly resembles one of those players gridiron teams bring on to do the place kicking.

I still think Walcott was a good choice. He was never going to play in games when we were winning, I see him as something different to try when we're behind. Where Sven did go wrong was in not bringing any extra striker: do we really need Jenas AND Carrick as midfield back-up?

I dont think its the fact Walcott is there - I think its more that Defoe/Ashton/Bent are not and players like JJ are.

No. I dont think it is, cant remember the other games they came from.

Spain is one of them and I think it was a Luis Garcia goal.

Beckham doesn't perform when the team play well because when the rest are on form the play doesn't revolve around him.

Well, yes. Personally, I'd have taken Defoe and Ashton instead of Crouch and Jenas but I'm not paid £4m to make those sorts of decisions.

I would have taken Bent for Walcott and Ashton for Jenas, I think Crouch earnt his place on the plane.

As much as I hate to say it, Crouch had started to look as if he had a place in international football. Last night though it was back to being the useless beanpole striker that we all thought he was to start with.

Crouch was odd lastnight. He looked pretty good with the ball at his feet and showed some nice touches but my god was he rubbish in the air.

God he was awful in the air, I think he made one half decent header back and that was it!

I know it has been trotted out a thousand times but for someone who is 8foot 11 inches he really should win some balls in the air.

No-one likes to see balls being aimlessly lumped up to the frontman, however, if when the need arises to 'get rid of it' from the constant barrage from the opposition I'm sure it would be heartening to the rest of the team if the striker could hold it up, force a foul/free-kick or even a throw on every once in a while, rather then making a token jump somewhere towards the ball and then watching it getting pumped straight back to where it came from.

Thing about Crouch is he may be tall , but he is not good in the air, never has been.

I think he deserved his palce in the squad - but he's also a bit slow at this level.

No point on pointing blame, let's hope the knock stages get the side firing on all cylinders. Bring Sunday and if they balls that up then lambast them with a vegence.

Totally agree, he lets the ball bounce off his head as apposed to really attacking the ball and getting some decent power in his headers. I really dont think crouch is up to international level football but all the players seem to think he is, I honestly cannot understand it.
