It turns out that Big jet Tv on a windy day is more addictive than many class A drugs. Planes getting within metres of the tarmac then nooooooo. That Lisbon plane got so close.
A big factor would be the direction of the runway. If they can't land due to strong cross winds, at one airport, they may be perfectly happy landing at an airport a few miles away, if the runway there is laid out in a different direction, meaning they with a headwind / tailwind rather than a cross wind.

Just got back from the marina, plenty of mums and kids getting blown down the pavements..

Love storms although I slept through the great storm woke to something that resembled a scene from the walking dead.
