How the f***ing hell does our stadium go from £40 million to £97 million cost!

I take it the stands will have individual arm chairs and we will have gold forks for the caviar and asparagus tips we will all be buying.

Surely the BBC have this wrong!!!

makes you wonder how accurate the story is.

edit... oh well, looks like we've been living with incorrect ideas about how much stadium would cost.

It's on the main site, £97 millon all funding secured.

The majority of which coming from Tony Bloom.

Some posters on here looking a bit silly.....

BUT I thought the break even figure was based on a figure of around £50 million!!!!

I know lets build the thing first, but anyone who thinks prices will be cheaper that withdean needs a reality check

The "break even" figure depends on the size of the debt that needs to be serviced from stadium income.

Most of the funding is now coming from an interest free arrangement from Tony Bloom. That means that previous break even figures need to be recalculated.

right, we wont be paying as much interest as before, quite a lot less, it would seem.

He sounds very positive
Bloom said, "I would like to pay tribute to Dick. Nobody should be in any doubt that he saved the club from almost certain extinction at a time when no-one else was willing to come forward, and under his leadership we have had some very memorable times including our successful nine-year battle to secure the go-ahead for Falmer.

"I want to see the club build on the momentum under our newly appointed manager Russell Slade. I am determined to see us back in the Championship as soon as possible. I want to fulfil the dreams of so many of our great fans just as my grandfather Harry Bloom did in the glory days of the 1970s with Brian Clough, Peter Taylor and Alan Mullery."

Just bask in the warm glow of being right for once. We have been saying for ages that it would need Bloom or someone to fund the stadium as the banks won't give it and it would seem we were right, despite all the Knight lickers saying we were talking rubbish. Being right is a great thing, and may not happen again, so suggest we enjoy it!!! :falmer::falmer::laugh:

That is bloody funny. I'm sure there will be a few threads bounced in the near future.

Seriously though, that's a bloody big jump from the £60m quoted when we got the final planning permission. Even then it was only meant to be a £25m mortgage with the rest (£35m by my maths) coming from grants, now we're told that it's £93mil.

I'm starting to get the feeling we might have been a bit lucky.

just hope TB doesn't have plans for a Burger King, Toys R Us, DFS and Comet at Falmer.

"The Blooming Stadium", with a proud erection of Dick outside - sorted!

Frankly we have been very very luck. "Without Bloom there would be no stadium" is a phrase that I and others have used over the last few months and roundly ridiculed by dick's cronies. The bare truth is that without Bloom or someone similar we would be relying on obtaining bank debt. Obtaining that bank debt became an impossibility last autumn when the banks went into meltdown. The fact Bloom has come through for us is fantastic, and I for one will gladly have his babies if he ever asks.

It makes no difference really, Because loans with interest would probably amount to that sum anyway.

Bloom is another name to go down in the history books then. Looks like another saviour of the Albion.

The best thing is that we have someone in charge who, it would appear is a fan of the club, like his father and grandfather before him. I hope TB has several kids and that they all become successful businessmen/women and follow in his footsteps.
