Can anyone who was at the Goldstone game say that that honestly wasn't on a par with your best ever experience of watching the Albion? As someone who didn't get a ticket, but has ecstatically watched that video many times, I've always envied those who had the euphoric experience of being at that fixture.

yeah 4-1 victory, Sheringham was at Millwall then although dont recall him playing (which I think he did), even had an Offside ruled out. I was in the south west stand with old man and a mate...fantastic game, all for nothing though :nono:

That fifteen minutes either side of the break when we scored all four was phenomonal - top game. I still had a bump on my head which I got when jumping up when Deano's free kick went in against Ipswich to get us there (was standing on the West Terrace South, and my bonce whacked the ledge at the front of the seating - ouch!)

The ruturn was pretty good too, seeing the Millwall burn their scarves on the terraces as we waited to be escorted back to New Cross by the OB and left there to be coined on the platform.

I remember Deano's free kick to get us there, but my parents thought it would be more fun to take me to some Country Park on the day of the Millwall game. I clearly remember listening to it on the radio though.

Didn't have a ticket ...... just turned up .... ahhh happy days ..... expecting nothing, and we absolutely slaughtered them. It was a great night. I hadn't seen many games that season, and was amazed at how well we played.

Night? I thought it was daylight. A sunday perhaps? The Den was in the evening.

I remember when we went one down - I honestly thought we were going to get hammered. Then Millwall put the ball out of play so that one of their lads could get treatment. When we took the throw in, we didn't give it back to them - there were a lot of words between the two teams and we then went on to thrash them - BRILLIANT!!!

Although there have been some pretty good times.
Also up there would be 2-0 against Liverpool in the cup in '84 and Reading away last season (just for the atmosphere)

I recall Millwall were a strong side that season and when they went a goal up I thought "here we go..."
Who remembers a pocket of Millwall fans in the North Stand?
They showed extended highlights on ITV the next day. I had it on video for a few years but wiped it by accident.:dunce:
As I recall they played their defensive line high up the park & we sprung 'em time & time again. As the bloke on the telly said "it's an afternoon stroll on the beach for Brighton now" or something.
You young 'uns may not appreciate how close Barry Lloyd came to getting us back in the top flight. Then next season.....well, let's not discuss that.

I've still got the ITV highlights from the first leg. Codner was excellent that day. I recall that after the play-off final defeat Barry Lloyd said something along the lines of "we'll definitely get out of this division next season". And he was right... just not quite the way he meant it.

i have the whole match on video,

i went to the game, one of the best ive ever seen,

remember codner was not our best player at the time, he got the ball in midfield ,ran with it and scored!!

think Teddy scored for them if i remember rightly.

didnt got to the away leg but i know a Young John Robinson made his Debut for us and scored.

One of my recollections was wondering whether the Millwall fans were going to invade the pitch to get the game abandoned.

We were totally out of it in the first half and I remember that our equaliser came when a lucky deflection off a Millwall defender put the ball into Barham's path. The atmosphere in the North Stand during the purple patch in the second half will stay with me forever.

Very likely. Perhaps it was dark when I got out the pub. I'd have sworn it was an evening game.

Senility I am afraid.

Midday on a Sunday as I remember. I got home in time to watch the extended highlights that afternoon. Magic moments. :clap2:

Remember when Mike Small fouled someone in front of the Millwall fans in the south stand and a few jumped out to front him - being Mike Small and being well 'ard, he stood his ground to them - marvellous scenes.

Didn't the first goal (Mark Barham's) bounce off someone's back into his run direct from a drop kick ?? The other goals though were great goals, tore them apart through the middle.

One of the best games I've ever been to, the result and way we played was superb. Can't really seperate that and the Ipswich game with the Deano free kick in injury time to get us to the play offs in the first place. North Stand was the place to be, in the middle behind the the right hand goal post was my spot for that game if I remember correctly. Ah to be 16 again.:(
