The way I see it 2 points per game all but guarantees promotion. We are ahead of that so all good, so are Newcastle. But Leeds & Reading are not far off that, 4 points each. If they were to each win their next 4 games they too would be on 2 points per game. Unlikely perhaps but should either of them catch up to 2 points per game then 3rd place could have 90+ points. So at least 12 wins from last 20 will do it for me.

BTW I can't see Reading getting close to 2 ppg so that just leaves Leeds.

A string of no score draws would be seriously tedious to watch, though . . . .

10 wins and 3 draws. I think the bar is gonna be really high this season IMO
I'm not so sure.

Hmmm so what you're saying is:-

The higher up in the division team A is, at halfway.
The more teams it has to play from lower in the division.

Have you thought about getting these findings published?

2 chickens.

No. What I'd say is that if we're in the top half, we can play 11 other teams from the top half, and 12 from the bottom half. What I said in that post is that we still have to play 12 teams from the bottom 13, which is not bad when ten more wins will get us over the line.
Just to help you out, this means we need to play 7 from the top 11.

So from the remaining 19, that's 11 wins and 8 losses, putting us on 93. A bit unrealistic to think we won't draw any.
10 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses puts us on 94.
9 wins, 5 draws and 5 losses puts us on 92. That should do it (not guaranteed, but reasonably realistic).

But isn't that exactly what we did last season?
True. But there were 4 team's with roughly the same points as us now on February 23! We are a month ahead of last year's 60p points with a huge gap that wasn't there last season.

It's not just the points, even if someone caught us would they have the goal difference we have even after catching us?

We don't leak goals even when playing poorly so keeping a decent enough + goal difference is sustainable.

Good points. Reckon 92 will do it.

Would already take a point at Huddersfield and Leeds, and certainly would not want to go to Villa on the last day needing a point!

A lot of ifs and but's. but...... can I be positive yet. ???
I think you can start to discount relegation, which has to be worth a beer.

I've got us down for 11 wins 5 draws and 3 losses. Thats 98 points. Might just scrape home with that.
