Got an email this morning saying I had been randomly selected to have my Covid certification checked before tonight’s game……..they deactivated my ticket and I have to report to ticket window 9/10 to show certification before they will reactivate it…….
UN F**KING BELIEVEABLE !!!

Can you let us all know why this is an issue for you? We all know that there is a check on a % of people attending , tonight it happens to be you. Next game it could be me. I am trying to think of any reason why, if I am selected, I would be upset and find it UN F***KING BELIEVABLE, and I cant find one other than if I didn't have the necessary certification , in which case I shouldn't and wouldn't be going anyway

Its been a condition of entry all season to have the covid pass, and a legal requirement for the past few games ,so its hardly a surprise, and you have had literally months to get it sorted which only takes a few minutes in the first place

If anything it's quite reassuring.

Or at least it would be if the team had won in their last 11 games.

I don't actually know how much weight the club has in these situations.

I suspect it's very much a "you're in the top league now, your games are subject to whatever kick off time we say" arrangement.

Doesn't make it right but what's the alternative? Realistically what could the club do? Refuse to field a team? Refuse entry to the TV crews?

Exactly. The broadcasters are in control, and the PL just panders to them, and clubs have to accept their desires -- although, that said, that's where the money comes from.
The TV deal means that PL clubs need to have a minimum of x games broadcast per season. The broadcasters then decide when they'll be shown. We're simply not top draw. That's why we've got the 8pm slot on Boxing Day, but also why we're always on at 5.30 on a Saturday (which must be time that attracts the lowest audience), and never on at 4/4.30 on a Sunday (have we ever been on at this time?).

I have a season ticket, but sadly I am not going tonight. I am just going to watch it on tv. I get that this isn't about me as a match attending fan, and I am lucky enough to turn myself into that fan who watches from home instead. I loose over £30 because of it, but I also get that the club doesn't care that i loose that £30.

We're LOOSE

I didnt realise the club gave advance notice of covid checks. Surely that defeats the whole purpose of random checks? Yes I realise the ticket holder couldve been random selected but this method could encourage others to not bother as ive not been pre-selected? And carry the id with them. The paper version is so folded up in my wallet ive had to apply for a replacement as its becoming harder to read properly. Wish the government couldve isdued credit card not paper vaccination evidence.

Glad to see they’re doing this. Firstly it means they’re taking it seriously. Secondly they’re doing it in an efficient way that doesn’t slow down the entry to the stadium for most people.
I find it “un f**king believable” that anyone would object, personally

They give advance notice to a select few - i think its a hundred or so - who have to report to the ticket office to get their ticket reactivated. They still do random checks for everyone else in the queues etc.

Jeff Stelling SKY said just now 'it couldn't be more inconvenient on Boxing Day it's just about impossible' his son is one of us I think.

I am wavering here!

It’s a shit time to be on….although I am happily jabbed and did a LFT yesterday and a PCR last week and am fine, it’s still a bit concerning…..weather is shite ….lot of mates not going as travel will be shite….

Will make my mind up after tea…if I hit the alcohol, then there will be one less seat filled

Anyone know the current state of the mill hill park and ride…will there be lots of busses to get us there and back?

100?

What’s the point of that? Even allowing for all the no shows there’ll be at least 15,000 at the game…

In the championship the club got something like £100k a game, maybe 3 or 4 a season?

PL was £51m in the season 19/20 for us.

Chess style football is better on TV anyway.
