In my own strange world
There was some awesome music in the Eighties but just been reminded on BBC 4 that,by far,the best thing ever product of that decade was and still is,the pint sized sex bomb godess that is Kylie Minogue - she was so fit then and still is now.

80s really were the carefree greatest time of my life.

You could be a punk, mod, rocker etc etc

The soul scene was immense

Has she left Neighbours then?

And I could go on...

Dreadful mainstream music, but fantastic alternative scene's

I loved the 80's. In my teens and twenties, only circa £1 a pint, clubbing, dancing, going to gigs, great music for most of us with New Wave, Synth Pop, dance music. Never to be forgotten holidays abroad with mates. Hedonism.

I remember the (minority) headbangers in our Sixth Form who loved ACDC and Def Leppard, and boy they hated the music adored by everyone else.

Literally the time of our lives.

I agree, but with the exception of Men Without Hats, I liked it.

Don't think the words 'awesome music' and 'Kylie Minogue' should be used in the same paragraph.
As a previous poster said, there were some exceptions.

How you can put 'Sussudio' in the same pile as 'Safety Dance' baffles me... Phil Collins knocked out some bangers in the 80's!!

Kylie wasn't awesome in the 80's mind you, musically - but I wouldn't really have known as my testosterone fuelled teenage brain could only think about performing unmentionable acts on / with / at her.
