Mancini is a bollox appointment, Hiddink would be the best choice by a country mile. Is it because, like Arsene Wenger with Arsenal, Mancini's name is similar to Man City? There can't be any other reason for such a leftfield choice.

Maybe leftfield is over exaggeration, but by comparison with Hiddink, who knows the English League and was a fantastic man manager at Chelsea (just what City need), it seems a bizarre choice to me.

Despite being an ultimately tough footballer of a muscular nature he was always nervous in front of the camera when he went on to manage Wales. He grew into the role more firmly, it seemed, and did a good job at Blackburn as we know. Maybe his public timidity meant he couldn't master and quell the screams and cries of the giant egos at City since the takeover.
I suppose the men in charge wanted a more worldly figure of larger international status, a man that if any of us went gay for the day we'd think about spending a few hours in bed with. He's purdy like.
