It's really not worth worrying about. The original guidelines were made up on the back of a fag packet and these are based on tiny percentages relating to different cancers.
The same percentage difference in risk could be created by your weight, your diet, pollution where you live, lack or not of exercise etc
So I'll continue to eat well, exercise regularly, stay thin, live in an area of low pollution (I do all these by choice rather than by government "advice") and DRINK as MUCH as I LIKE thanks.

Sack this chief medical officer and get someone in who recommends higher limits. Think of the duties we could lose. I mean they sacked David Nutt when he said ecstasy was relatively safe. That was going to effect drinking consumption.
The guidelines in Spain say I can have 17.5 pints a week. I'll go with that advice.
Just another step in the Islamification of the UK.
Dont eat Pork, Dont bet, Dont Drink.........................may as well move to Raqqa and have done with it.
Yes you will. Ex-smokers are always the most judgmentalOh and well, well below but won't be at all judgemental to others
BTW, 14 units is 6 pints of 4% beer. Are you above or below the new advice on limits?
Some understatement that. If it's not illegal it should be.it is no fun getting up early in the morning with your child with a hangover and not fair on them
So anything over a 99 out of 100 shot is considered too high a risk. Get f*cked and get the beers in.This bit made me laugh:
"The 14-unit limit has been chosen because at that point, your drinking leads to a 1% risk of dying from alcohol-related causes.
This has been deemed to be an acceptable level of risk as it is approximately the same risk that someone has when they do an every day task such as driving a car."
It's the same risk as driving a car! My car stays in the garage most days, so that gives me a few more units to play with.
are you a DoctorAre you above or below the new advice on limits?
