Noone really fancies us then, apart from the odd "maybe play-offs" comment. Sounds perfect.

To be fair to them, we have got a poor squad and we haven't improved it much/at all. So on paper I can see why we wouldn't be seen as contenders to other fans. But what none of them would be aware of is that we have the best manager in the division by a mile.

Appears so badger, best throw in the towel now then mate eh? we got no hope apparently. Mind you one guy had us as champions and i think he may have been a saint!:falmer:

Most people seem to rate Southampton but I would add Peterborough as the best signing they have made, who will prove to be a winner, is getting Gary Johnson in as manager. He is vyeing with Gus as the best in Div 1.

Some interesting comments, but I think that thread proves that most people don't know anything outside of their own teams.

Most people are tipping charlton to do well, but after speaking to my Charlton mates yesterday it's totally up in the air for them at the moment as they only have about 10 players signed and they've lost Shelvey and Nickey Bailey. If they manage to spend their transfer money wisely and re-sign some of their players on less money then they'll still be thre or thereabouts.

Looks like we're off the radar of most. I think that's fair enough as we're a good striker short of promotion at the moment. With the team we've got now I put us mid table.

For a start we are just into July so i wouldn't even worry about a new striker just yet. That will come along with a new central defender/winger and possibly another midfielder. If we sign barnes even better.

I predict Gus will play 4-5-1 so a new striker/Murray and maybe Barnes gives us options.
Our defence looks solid and will easily have a plus goal difference this season.

I want real competition in midfield which we don't have quite yet.It picks it'self at the moment.

I cannot see a top 2 finish for us but play offs is the least we can expect.

Exactly. Nominating Charlton as promotion contenders is a sick joke. And they're unlikely to spend that transfer money, considering the size of their debt. I'd have them down as mid-table if they're lucky. You're right, people know nothing apart from their own team so just name the 'big teams'. History tells you the biggest names do not dominate this league.

I think it's pretty obvious that Southampton, Huddersfield, Posh and Seff Wed will all be up there at some point, but like you say some of them will deinitely underperform and be worse than their squad suggests they should be. Before the season starts it's pretty hard to guess which one will do it though.

Could Slade make Orient a suprise team for the play offs as he has apparently signed numerous players. He has also let one go who I think could have replaced Croft in Sean Thornton.

I see that you've decided to start moaning barely into pre season, oh well, it was to be predicted, the fact that Poyet has made it clear that he intends further signings means nothing to you.
