At least one of the chasing pack are capable of doing something similar this.

There just doesn't seem to be a team good enough to pull off that type of run in that pack. Burnley were a very strong squad to begin with and just started badly. We strengthened in Jan and started to put teams to the sword. Leeds, Reading, Huddersfield and Massive are far too inconsistent. Leeds essentially lost 3-1 to barnsley (penalty was a joke decision). We beat basically beat Weds with 10 men.

The only team that could possibly go on a run and win every game from now until the end of the season is Newcastle, or US.

Not that I'm a pessimist, but what's the maximum number of points a team's been relegated with ? If our worst case at this point is mid table mediocrity, I'm happy. Anything else is a bonus...

Peterborough went down with 54 points in 2012-2013.

And Leicester went down with 52 points in 2007-2008. (They've done ok since...)

I think it's fair to assume that we won't be flirting with relegation this season.

Let's not forget we got 45 points and made up 11 on Middlesbrough who had a game in hand in 20 games last season.
And Burnley went on an even better run.

At least one of the chasing pack are capable of doing something similar this.

I'm not counting my chickens yet.
I don't think they're to be honest but Time will tell :)

Can anyone see the chasing pack getting 36 points in 19 games?
Leeds have just lost a game and they also lost to us, but they still got 22 points from the last 10. Huddersfield got 20 and Reading got 18 (with 6 of their 10 games being tough ones). I wouldn't put money on non of them getting 36 from 19.

I think we are more pressured than quite alot of people are making out. Our last two away games are horrible and we don't want to be needing points at that stage.

We need big performances in the following, and ideally not to lose:

Hudds (A)
Reading (H)
Leeds (A)

In the past history of the Championship, 12 years, it has taken exactly 30 games for a team to reach 60 points or more.

Only 3 clubs reached that figure in less than 30 games -

2006 - 25 Games - Reading... - finished with 106 points - won the league - 25 points above 3rd team
2013 - 28 Games - Cardiff…. - finished with 87 points - won the league - 10 points above 3rd team
2014 - 27 Games - Leicester - finished with 102 points - won the league - 17 points above 3rd team

2017 - 27 Games - Brighton - ??????

It's pretty clear that we are on the same trajectory as Leicester .. so should be Premier League Champions within a couple of years

We are 3 points clear of Hughton's Newcastle at this stage in 2009/10.
They had 57 points after 27 - They won the league with 102 points. 23 points clear of 3rd.

Good stats. Cardiff is interesting in the 2012/13 season. 60 points in 28 games at an average of 2.14 after that they only picked up 27 in 18 games which is an average of 1.5. Massive drop away in form yet they still won the league by 8 points.

Pretty good isn't it. Even the great CH - managed Newcastle side of 2009-10, which was the last team before us to get to 50 points as early as 23 games had a little wobble and took til the 30th game to get to 60 points. They still finished with 102.

Going back prior to 2005/06..

Portsmouth in 2002/03 got to 60 points in 29 games, finished champions with 98 points
Charlton in 1999/00 got to 60 points in 29 games, finished champions with 91 points (4 points clear of third but they did get only 4 points in their last 7 games!)
Sunderland in 1998/99 got to 60 points in 28 games, finished champions with 105 points
Newcastle in 1992/93, got to 60 points in 26 games, finished champions with 96 points

The best I can find was Fulham in 2000/01, who got to 60 points on Boxing Day after just 24 games. They had 67 points at the 27 game stage and finished champions with 101 points

That season Bolton got to 60 points after 29 games .... and finished third, four points behind Blackburn :ohmy: But they did win the play-offs

God if we don't do it from here it'll be the biggest collapse ever seen in the championship ... :( but lets focus on the thought we could win this division's trophy for the first time in our history... :)
