I have friends who are big Joni Mitchell fans and I have lost count of the number of times I have tried to get into Blue, which is considered by many to be one of the all time best albums. Sure I like a couple of songs she has written particularly Woodstock, except not by her. I find her voice mostly grating and irritating  Big Yellow Taxi and Both Sides Now being the exceptions

The other album I can’t get the plaudits for is Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison. Annoying as I like to think I am open minded on most music, especially from the 60’s and 70’s

Oh dear!? I've been playing The Hissing Of Summer Lawns a lot lately. I find her voice soothing, usually after listening to Mark E Smith :)
Johnny Cash live at San Quentin is a great album (except for one or two God songs)

I thought it was just me. I know she's revered by the critics and by several of my friends (and Mrs Gwylan) but I really can't into her - it's not just her voice, I'm not wild about most of her songs either. See also Laura Nyro for another critic fave that leaves me cold

So does the ranking look about right, which of these do you still listen to regularly, or which ones you played but now never give it a listen.

For me the top 10 could be in any order, and I still listen to the top 5 with probably Tommy more frequently than the other four.

Highlighted the ones I still listen to to varying degrees and so which have, for me, stood the test of time.

Probably 'Abbey Road' tbh, it's my favourite Beatles album and my favourite out of the list provided, will see if I can find any more.

edit:

Even just for the title track, one of my favourite songs (I haven't heard the album all the way through), 'A Salty Dog' by Procol Harum

Her best album sure, not one of the all time best albums though imo. I can understand her voice grating, I will happily listen to the whole blue album but a listen every now and again is enough.

Suite Judy Blue Eyes has the most amazing harmonies

And over 40 years on they still have it! Sing Along now

I couldn't make the gig, despite having tickets, but when they played at the Brighton centre a few years ago, they had dressing rooms on separate floors . . .that's how much love there is between them!

And that’s without bringing Neil Young into the equation :lolol:

I was there and thought they were great, shame about Roger near the end but they were very professional.
Loved the orchestral, having been more into the stage version of Tommy and Quadrophenia, they played well and sounded great
Pete was in a very enthusiastic frame of mind, seemed to really be enjoying himself (a lot different from last time I saw them in Toronto

Wore a bhafc related shirt (soho down to) a definite whoosh, one **** on the train did ask then went on about his beloved soccer and MLS (clearly the founders of the sport), couldn't even be arsed to argue with him let alone listen

Pinball Wizard and Baba O'Riley.

I'm not familiar with the rest of the album, but some blissed out hammond space rock that I often return to
