With people like this knocking around it's surprising socialism gets such a bad rap.

Didn’t her sister’s (ex?) husband claim he had £90million worth of cash, gold and precious stones stolen from the safe in his home in Belgravia?

That reminds me must insure my wifes rings and ear rings £450.

Our next door neighbours were broken into a few weeks ago and a load of jewellery taken (poor couple - he's 88 and she's 90 - are devastated - lots of sentimental things from the 2 children they lost etc)..............been a lot of alarms and CCTV fitted in the road in the last few weeks.

Yes. My first thought when I heard about this was: inside job, and who could possibly pull a stunt like that?

With the OP on this one. Hard to feel sorry for anyone with that sort of wealth ‘just lying around the house’. Morally it’s just obscene. The victim will have to be on their guard as stats show burglars often return to, in her case, steal the Rembrandts, Ming Vases, Ark of the covenant etc.

Ark of the Covenant? I’m sure I made an Airfix kit of that.

Difficult to feel much sympathy for her given her wealth, how easily she came by it and the fact that her insurers will pay out. OK having burglars in your house isn't very pleasant but keeping £50m worth of jewellery in the house is pretty dumb.

We all know that theft is naughty, but seems many on here are admirers of the Robin Hood theory - if someone steals from someone who can afford to lose it then it's not really a crime, more a redistribution of wealth.
