In other news, it sounds like the 2nd->3rd jab gap is going to be shortened to five months, possibly as of tomorrow, but still only groups 1-9 (ie vulnerable, health workers and 50+)...

The clever folk have done the math and that could see the number of people eligible for their third jab jump to nearly 12m.
Paul Mainwood, who has specialised in covering vaccine matters, has a good thread on the implications of this, not least what it could mean if authorisation is given for those younger than 50 to receive a booster. In short: a lot of under-50s are not far off a 5-month gap now.

Because they shortened the gap between first and second shots between my first and second, my 5 months is up at the end of this month - less than 3 weeks away. I was in the 40-42 bracket when I had my first.
40+ age group before Xmas, it's been announced.

Think this is very wise. Just hope people take it up, I know a couple of people that are too relaxed about the situation and say, no hurry...

I'm in the 40-49 group and 6 months after my second jab would be mid-December.
However, I tested positive last week thanks to outbreak at the kids nursery. Therefore, should I treat getting COVID as my booster and wait another 6 months?

Booked my booster for 22/11 - had to wait even though i did it through the surgery. My second jab "ran out" on 1/11

I believe you've got to wait 4 weeks. My parents were both due for their boosters now pretty much, but contracted COVID a couple of weeks ago. They've now been re-booked for their booster in the first week of December, which will be about 4 weeks after their positive tests.

I just booked a booster, but got to wait until mid December. Everywhere else in easy reach is not available (presumably already booked up?).
However, why did Mrs Cat get a text reminder, and I get a letter in the post. I would have thought both reminders would come the same way.

It looks like the NHS website is now allowing some people to bring forward their booster jab in England.
The earliest slot I was previously offered was start of January, six weeks after dose two. Now it’s offering me next Monday…

My booster was the beginning of January too but I’m in on Monday now! Christmas is seeming a bit more viable now.
Chatting to one of the volunteers in Haywards Heath yesterday, she said they are taking walk-ins, but not always able to - quite a few no-shows though so anyone turning up is quite likely to get in. I went just after 5pm, business was steady but not manic - there were a couple of walk-ins whilst I was there.

I walked in at Guys at London Bridge last Friday, 5 months and 2 days after my 2nd jab. My wife was booked in for Xmas Eve at Churchill Square, but I've just managed to switch her to Monday 13th. Things are opening up
Thanks for that. I was originally offered Christmas Eve but had opted for early January. Have now managed to get booked in for next Tuesday

Nice one, just checked and was able to book.
The earliest date they had was the end of the month so booked but then realised I couldn't go so cancelled and re-booked and next week appeared.
