Bates wont be laughing when he sees him play!

Trouble is, if he plays badly he won't be selected! And we won't get the add-ons!

I don't trust Bates one bit!

Will probably be £750,000 which isn't bad but it's certainly not the grest result the official site are boasting. Disappointed that it's only £ 225,000 now. Still, it does at least give MM a little more to play with.

According to the BBC

Leeds have been ordered by a Football League tribunal to pay Brighton up to £650,000 for defender Dan Harding.
Harding, 21, was out of contract at the Withdean Stadium, but Brighton were entitled to compensation because the player is under 24.

"The fee is £450,000, plus money on top for appearances up to £650,000," said Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell.

"I'm pleased to get this resolved so Dan can now get on with playing for Leeds United," added Blackwell.

Leeds had initially offered a reported £250,000 for the England Under-21 international, while Brighton had valued him at closer to £1.5m.

I dont know why everyone is so worried about the amount. It dosnt make any difference if it is a billion quid if its not going back into the playing side of things.Lucky old Dick Knight again i say.

Could have been worse.

I don't think we should be too upset by it. I really do think he has been overhyped and after a few games at Leeds they'll wonder what they were playing at, forking out for him.

I think this deal is OK.

Remember you never get as much with this process as you would by negotiating a sale for a player in contract.

I never thought that Harding would be worth more than Cullip either.

Could have been a lot lot worse for us, at least leeds are going to have to pay at least double what they offered us for him, which should piss beardy bates off.

Some of us were probably being a bit unrealistic but it does look possible that we will get a total of 750k for him within three years on the basis that he could complete 60 games and Leeds get promoted.

Which is why there is a lot of bad feeling towards him. Had he been honest about his intentions the club might have been able to secure a better fee for him.

Dick Knight has never turned down a transfer request as far as I am aware.

We've contributed massively to Dan's development and we now wish him all the very best for the future

Speak for yourself Dicky boy, I for one hope he fails miserably and breaks his legs as soon as he's made enough appearances to pay us our money.

We only got the £1.5m for virgo because he was still in contract, if he was out of contract we would have been lucky to get half that. Virgs was ten times the player Harding was, so i'm happy with what we got. Harding was far too mistakeful for my liking, how many points did he cost us last year?
I can't understand you lot moaning about it. MM has a transfer budget to spend on the squad, and i didn't think i'd be saying that for a while!
When was the last time one of our managers had a transfer budget of any significance?
We are moving forward, all we need now is Falmer.
Anyone remember Hereford?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Yep, it's a good deal, it will be £750,000, which is a fair compromise, as Dan will only get better and will play those games over the next couple or so years and Leeds will be promoted.

The fact that the payments will be spread out if not a problem either, we will be bleeding revenue at Withdean for the next 3 years until Falmer so we could do with the yearly cash flow. And we are pretty cash rich at the moment thanks to Virgs.

Given that tribunals always undervalue players, this is a good deal. Leeds have got a fine player on the cheap but that's the Bosman ruling for you, too bad - we've done the best we could.

I echo McGhee's words in saying good luck to Dan - the better he does, the better we'll do on the money front. Of course he didn't cover himself in glory in the way he went about his transfer but he'll still be representing our youth system where-ever he goes and reflecting glory on it.

And those people who slagged off Harding while he was here will notice very clearly this season how much we will miss him :drink: :drink:
