A Football League tribunal hearing has ruled that Leeds United will pay Brighton & Hove Albion an initial £450,000 for defender Dan Harding.

The left-back made his move from the Withdean Stadium to Elland Road on July 1st, having turned down a new contract with the Seagulls to become Kevin Blackwell's second summer signing.

Although out of contract, Brighton were due compensation for the England under-21 international because he is under the age of 24 and the matter went to a tribunal after the clubs were unable to agree a fee.

The fee could rise to £650,000 depending on appearances.

United manager Kevin Blackwell said: I'm pleased to get this resolved so Dan can now get on with playing for Leeds United."

If Leeds go up we get £150k during Dans 3 year contract, and we get £50k for every 20 games he plays, I think we have done VERY well.

Why the buggery is only half of the 450k being paid up front? Leeds are just about rich enough to pay us it all now, I would think. !!!!!.

We only get 1/2 the 450k and the other 'during' the next 6 months (ie after 6 months!).

So we actually get less cash in hand now than if we'd have gone with Leeds offer of 350k.
