4-3-3

Seeing as Withdean has become lifeless and the only time we ever look like scoring is when we are chasing the game with the above formation, why don't we start like that from the off?

The more defensive 3 central midfielders seems to work away, yet it seems a tad negative to stick with it at home. Let's face it we hardly had a shot on goal until we went to 4-3-3, we haven't won since the 13th of Oct and something has to change!

Good shout, possibly forster, murray, dickinson all start up top with Murray the more central! Bennet is far less effective at home imo for some reason, so could be perhaps used as someone to come on for one of the strikers if we have a lead or in the second half. Certainly need to try something different!

No thanks, dickinson on the bench.

I agree, let's make the change. All out attacking flair. I would play Forster, Murray and Bennett in a front 3.

Nice one public school boy, let,s go back in time and maybe we can get some width make some space get to the by-line, cut the ball back and maybe get some goals...

Only thing is one of the midfielders would have to be dropped and I don't really think any of them deserve to be.

i think thats the problem with the idea - bennett should be our most creative outlet from a wide position, so asking him to play a role that will see him spend more time inside wastes him a little bit

Exciting attacking football leads to goals as long as you have the players to deliver. I thought this is what we were promissed but have we got the players? I Think the squad is getting too big and what worries me is that no one else seems to be coming in for OUR DEAD WOOD.

How is that a problem or concern for the supporters all we want is to win games we dont care about the logistics of it as to the wage bill unhappy players etc. We want 11 players out there bustinga gut for the club and winning games how that is achieved isnt our problem.

I do. I think it's undermining the work Gus is trying to do with the squad. He seems to want a settled side and a settled squad, but he's got all these players he doesn't want hanging out in the background. You've got Livermore there who should be playing in a team somewhere, not in the background here. How must he be feeling? And he's not the only one. I think it is massively hindering the team ethos and ethic that Gus is trying to build.

I would think that Gp is professional enough to just leave those he doesnt want to train with the youth or whoever while they collect their wages and see out their contract.

Livermore will probably go non league in the summer so why should he leave now for a lower wage. In his position I would stay . pick up my wages and say thank you in the summer and sign for Crawley/Eastbourne or similar.

You want him to ignore them? I guarantee that the players who are being left out have formed good friendships with the other players and it must be a difficult situation for the players who are playing. I don't think it helps the squad.

And I don't think Livermore will go non-league. I don't see why he should, he is easily capable of playing in league 1, or league 2 at the very least. He is by no means over the hill yet, it's just that Gus has decided Navarro, Dicker and Crofts are his central midfielders and that Livermore doesn't offer anything the other 3 don't. I don't believe Livermore will sign for Eastbourne, for another thing, because they're not professional.

No navarro? Not sure i agree with that, would put him in ahead of crofts based on ability but then we havnt got a captain.

As poster above says, with a 3-4-3 i think you would need Navarro in there to hold things together. In the past few games, i think he's been one of our best players, and thats coming from someone who a few weeks ago couldnt see any positives in him!

Against Millwall, after we changed to 4-3-3 and was chasing the game they had 3 one on ones against Kuipers, (which he stopped each time thankfully) we could have lost heavily because of this formation and our chasing of the match

We looked solid defensively until Virgos unfortunate mistake cost us a goal and ultimately the match. If we can stop teams scoring, we are capable of getting at least 1 goal playing 4-4-2, and winning. The goals we conceeded against Aston Villa was when we got caught on the counterattack, although against better opposition.

Maybe the question we should be asking is that maybe we are too adventurous in our approach, leaving alot of space at the back which can be capitalised upon by the opposition. If we played a tighter game, we might be sneaking more games 1-0 rather than chasing games.
