I wonder what the lowest not out day one total is? Run rate is abysmal.

The snooze fest continues 97-1 46.3 overs

Nonsense. Perfectly decent batting approaching, on the first morning of a Test. The pitch is slow, and England have the best of it. The conditions are boiling, and the intention will be to bat and bat as long as possible, to grind the bowlers down. England will want to bat just once in this match.

(I'm sure you'll both enjoy 'The Hundred', though  )

Pathetic as usual, get in do all the hard work, then get out to a nothing shot.

You're right mate. Opening the batting is easy in test cricket.

Look. We've got two young openers, both have something about them and are approaching the game in the right way. I'm just grateful we're not playing pinch hitters or no hopers up top any more. This top three won't ever be the best we've ever had, but in terms of balancing the team and trying to bring through some actual test batsmen, we're finally on the right lines

This is terrific test match batting from our lads. Loving it.

Grind them bowlers into the dirt.

It's a fine line between grinding the bowlers down and being bogged down by them. Three an over wouldn't be pushing the boat out too much! Root moving the rate upwards now, anyway.

Another batsman in and out, it really must be addressed as a serious problem. I’m normally an advocate of bat as slow and long as needed but I must say I think the scoring has been too slow today, given the conditions. Needed to make hay whilst the wicket was at its flattest.

SPOTY / ICCCOTY survives an umpires call review for LBW... a close shave!

Strange one, at first glance I thought that was a stupid review and then saw the slow mo and the bum became squeaky. If this pitch is spinning this much already can’t imagine what it will be like day 4/5.
