Nothing. The insurance will cover all damage to the other car (Less the Excess).

I thought that the excess was only relevant to any claims you make on your own vehicle. Your friends insurance company pays for the damage caused in full.

I had an accident just before xmas last year where I skidded out of control and hit a garden wall, smashed into a parked Corsa and nearly killed 2 pedestrians. I was fully comp and was offered the market value of my vehicle less my excess. I didn't have to pay any excess as far as damage to the garden wall or the Corsa was concerned. My insurance company paid for the damage in full. I hit black ice by the way...
