What other over 40 year old cricketers, who have no interest in playing for England would you like to select?

Sure he be talked around to play the last test if we lose this one, which I dont think we will. Any one would b e better and mote reliable than Hales.

He is probably in his last season on the county circuited. Ever since his mental health issues in 2006, he has made it clear that he has no interest in playing for England. I think in one interview he actually said, the thought of it gives him panic attacks.
Yet you want to bring him back.

How about you actually go and look at some of the county performers this season, rather than chucking the name of a player that no longer wants to play for England into the hat?

Can't believe you're still talking about this. Also, completely pointless if we lose this test as we can only draw the series and Pakistan would retain it overall as they won the last series. It would also be a massive snub to any prospective English opener with thoughts of playing for their country.

I do not go to matches now due to the make up of the fixtures. Too many limited over games to bring in money which I understand. My idea of cricket is and always was teams that had players who could build an innings geared to progeessing to test cricket. I enjoyed watching the likes of Trevor Bailey and Geoff Boycott batting.

Bell-Drummond of Kent has just scored a big hundred for the Lions against Sri Lanka A, is a more natural 4 day opener than Hales and is 23. Reminds me a bit of the Vaughan/ Trescothick selections where his county record at the moment doesn't really do him justice but the selectors definitely like him.
Vince has got 3 innings to save his career. For Bangladesh and India, I fancy everyone to be shifted up one to accomodate Rashid or possibly Moeen batting 4 or 5 (personally I think Moeen has to go back to what he came into the team as, a batsman who bowls a bit, he's just not good enough to be a frontline test match spinner - he's a very, very good option as a second spinner/ specialist batsman)

So maybe do not tout a 40 year old who does not want to play test cricket, when you have all but admitted above that you do not know what you are talking about.

Gubbins of Middlesex is high up the averages.
Robson has had a decent season, although I would not bring him back as he is shotless.
The one that should have worked was Lyth, but he stopped playing as he had for Yorkshire and it all went wrong.
