What this needs is some of Trescothick's medium pace dibbly dobblers.
It needed him to give our innings a base for the middle order to build on

What other over 40 year old cricketers, who have no interest in playing for England would you like to select?
Sure he be talked around to play the last test if we lose this one, which I dont think we will.

Please BG, you made your point in the last 10 million cricket threads. Change the record. It ain't gonna happen anyway.
What options are there to partner Cook as those that have been tried have been pants?

How about you actually go and look at some of the county performers this season, rather than chucking the name of a player that no longer wants to play for England into the hat?
.. I enjoyed watching the likes of Trevor Bailey and Geoff Boycott batting.

I do not go to matches now due to the make up of the fixtures. Too many limited over games to bring in money which I understand. My idea of cricket is and always was teams that had players who could build an innings geared to progeessing to test cricket. I enjoyed watching the likes of Trevor Bailey and Geoff Boycott batting.
You'll be enjoying Azhar Ali and Sami Aslam's admirable and gutsy performance this morning then?
63 runs, 23.2 overs,
RR:
Pakistan 63-1 (24 overs)
Drummond-Bell of Kent has just scored a big hundred for the Lions against Sri Lanka A, is a more natural 4 day opener than Hales and is 23. Reminds me a bit of the Vaughan/ Trescothick selections where his county record at the moment doesn't really do him justice but the selectors definitely like him.
