I am considering buying a 3g Tablet but am confused about which ones are available and their general uses. I don't need to spend the money on an I pad 2 or the new I pad 3 as they all contain much more than I want or need which is basically be able to get on the internet anywhere. Somebody in the family suggested the new Kindle Fire so I would like some advice from people who have a tablet other than an I pad.

I'd wait for the Kindle Fire too. £129 for the standard screen or £159 for the HD screen. When it is released it will be the best and the cheapest tablet available (excluding the iPad, but some might argue to the contrary).

i have a wifi iPad and an iPhone. Just connect the wifi on the iPad to the wifi on the iPhone and use the phone's data. Therefore no need to buy a 3G tablet. (It's called tethering)

The Google Nexus 7 looks good, thinking of getting one myself at Christmas. Only major thing I don't like about it is the lack of an SD slot.

edit: not in 3G though I don't think so maybe not for you.

You can pre-order now. They're not 3G. And they're not that good.

I have just returned from a holiday in Dorset and found that getting on the internet via dongle was a major problem but daughter in law visited and had no problem with her I pad so that got me thinking a tablet is the answer. Brother is going to USA i November and could get me a Kindle Fire cheaper than in this country. My wife bought the original Kindle £89 in the UK for $79 in Vegas.

That works, but obviously you'll be using your data quota from your phone, so depends on your contract whether that's suitable. I bought a new Ipad and got 3g because I wanted a different contract for my tablet data, and is only month-to-month so can cut off any time, rather than the 2 year contract my phone is on.

Either way you probably won't want to be streaming using 3g, it'll use huge amounts of data.

You won't be able to "get the internet everywhere" with 3G, lots of places there's no 3G coverage or it's pony.

Just buy a second hand iPad 1 with 3G. I did this last year. Certainly much, much less expensive than a new one, and has all I need.

Being an expert, who I know will probably say I pad, but what alternative would you suggest. As I said the Ipad has much more than I want or need .

I genuinely have no idea what there is in Android-land when it comes to 3G tablets. I'm not sure why anyone would not get an iPad, assuming price is not an issue.

A 3g tablet would have no more success than a 3g dongle if there simply isn't a signal. Most likely, your daughter was on a different network that happened to have a better signal in that area. If you literally just want to browse the web with it then just about any cheap android tablet will do the job.

That is why I am asking advice what is the choice or where do I find a choice or better still what makes should I look for or google. I am sorry not intending to sound obnoxious but I simply have no idea whatsoever.
