I was there, not with your ex but with my friends. Positioned ourselves near the sound/light box near the centre circle. Lifted the mat and picked some Wembley grass

I was just outside the penalty box to your left.

Looking back and watching the two BBC documentaries over the weekend its extraordinary how it actually happened. Be a piece of cake nowadays.

Geldof - 35 years from hero of the people to potty mouthed zero. Plus ca change.

Watched it, mesmerised at the time; all recorded on C90s and C60s - and whizzed off a cheque - don't think I've ever listened to the tapes since!

That was such a good day. I was in London and everywhere you could hear the concert being played in peoples houses, shops, cars it seemed like the city had an injection of kindness.

This song and that video is my over-riding and abiding memory of that day.

Bowie gave up one track - 5 Years so this was played.

Good call by him as well, really bought home what Live Aid was all about.

I was there, just in front of the TV hut.

Brilliant day. Ok, not all of the acts were my thing, but it was of its time. Queen stole the show. Remember Adam Ant, the only act to sing a song that nobody knew..........why didn't he sing his hits?

Queen (read Freddie Mercury) were excellent and I don’t even like them :lolol:

I was 15 and didn't pay it much attention

Same here. I had a Saturday job at the time in a factory for a firm called TR Fastenings on an industrial estate in Uckfield where my main duties included making the tea, placing bets at William Hill in the high street and being available for general bullying.

I did hear a bit on the radio though.

Status Quo and Queen were outstanding, yes but so we’re Dire Straits.

I don’t believe such an event could be done now. I mean who could you book today?
Today’s “stars” just haven’t got it

I was a mere 11 days old, so my memories of this are a little vague. I have seen it since though and apart from a few special performances I was disappointed by the show - the concept and the money raised was very impressive however, not to detract from that.

A testimony to how good 80's music was is that most of the performances have stood the test of time. Probably the greatest live music event ever.

Our budgie dropped off it's perch and died during the Queen set.

They tried it again about a decade or so ago. The only one I remember was Soundgarden, who were of course superb.
