Now this would surprise me greatly

Ther is at least one on over half that figure

err... yes there is. And more than one for that matter.

I'm very, very likely to take Turkey's word for that, as I'm sure several 'senior' posters on here would also. I don't think many people of this forum have a clue what players earn, including you three it would seem.

In answer to the original question, 30K a week on one player would scare me - alot. I don't think, if you're sensible you need to be paying those wages to get promoted from the Championship. Of course it'd help, but it wouldn't make us sustainable long term and after the near death of '97, I wouldn't want to risk it.

I imagine a lot of newer fans get excited by the prospect of us spending this sort of money. They probably think success would be guarenteed. Well it isn't, and there are plenty of examples where it has royally f***ed up clubs. We have a healthy club and that is the most important thing we could ever have. I've no doubt our wage bill does need improving, for three generations we've been small fry, but increasing it to a level we couldn't afford long term is madness.

The average wage for A championship player is 5k /wk so clearly anything like 30k is ludicrous and should ring alarm bells if true. I trust that it isn't, though.

We all have our sources. I'll trust my one here thanks. FWIW though the figure quoted could include appearance fees or bonuses which might make basic wage <10k.

Reading suggestions about what money our star player may or may not be on got me wondering how comfortable NSC feels with the club spending this much money on a player....if they are or might be about to

Ooooh! Sooooooooooo close , almost spot on but not quite

Turkey's very well-connected, so I'm inclined to believe what he says. I voted blimey, but the one about feeling uncomfortable if we're paying a player that much also applies to me.

I'm in the Turkey camp as it were.

I don't think anyone is anywhere close to 30k.

I still don't think that any player on the planet is worth 30k per week! It's just not right IMO. I blame the likes of Abramovich and Sky for the current ridiculous football wage structure. It will ruin our national sport one day I tell ya!

Depends if we paid a transfer fee.

30k a week for 3 years and no transfer fee

Or

10k a week for 3 years and a £3 million transfer fee

Can somebody do the maths ?

Would be flabbergasted if what Bozza says is true, but he has no reason to make it up.
I heard that no Norwich player was on more than £750k a year last season and that was in the PL (15K a week) but guessing that’s basic.
I heard from ‘my sauce’ that Gus’s retention is due to how large his salary is, no issues with that, bizarre that squad players at top clubs are often on more than the manager.
