just wondering if people think the same as me, that if we do well against the 3 teams who are relegated (if we have them early in the season only) would that show how good we really are and maybe show that we can challenge for a top 6 space & promotion to the prem ?

No, not at all. Teams coming down from the Premier League often struggle to adjust and a few giant killings don't make anyone promotion contenders. Look at Wolves in the top flight this season.

whenever we have been in that league before we've always seemed to do well against teams newly relegated from the premiership

derby, the leeds united, sunderland, leicester off the top of my head we all beat in their first seasons at that level, yet we were alwaysd scrambling around at the bottom. anybody can beat anybody in the championship
