It's not an either/or situation.

Who's to say we won't or can't do both.

We can hopefully try our best and do well against Man City and do well tomorrow

No brainer.

Scenario: End of season, missed promotion by 3 points. Would you take solace in the fact that we knocked Man City out of the league cup? Nah.

3 points please.

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
If a defeat of Man City were to give us a plum tie at Old Trafford or Emirates and seriously rake in the cash (a la Exeter City a few seasons ago), then I would be happy to forfeit three points in the league, providing it did not deprive us of a playoff or promotion spot :D

However, as things stand and the inability to see into the future, a definite three points tomorrow. League over cup this season. We need to fill the away end and I am getting bored of playing Cheltenham.

If I had to choose it would be knock Man City out of the cup, You can afford to lose a few league games and still get promoted but if you lose in the cup thats it.

Depends on who we get in the 3rd round, but at the moment, with prospects of playing Man u, Arsenal, liverpool etc, i would rather beat City

18-3 in favour of Rovers.

I can't believe it. THIS IS MANCHESTER CITY we are talking about! They are huge. A massive club and will be DESPERATE to beat us in this prestige competition. Plus it's a money spinner and Withdean will be ROCKING on that night.

It's got to be the ciddy match.

The City game looks likely to be on Sept 24th so it seems so long away. We have 6 league fixtures between now and then so if it was a choice between say getting 12+ points from them fixtures or beat City then i would say id rather have the points.

Both of course, and I'm NOT being greedy, it's not an either/or situation.. If we've got to swap something for a Cup victory over Man City then I'll happily trade in the JPT.

I wonder how many of those who voted for the 3 points castigated Kitson and Reading (and other clubs) for putting League points over the FA Cup?
