3 Norwich fans on final warning for homophobia. .....

I would certainly pause for thought before trying to brand Norwich City as inherently homophobic on the basis of three prats. Norwich itself is very liberal these days, and the most likely place outside Brighton to elect the Green Party.

The Norfolk countryside, however, contains tribes which have been inbreeding since before the Industrial Revolution...

This. Norwich is a fabulous, friendly and tolerant city - it certainly already seemed that way 20-odd years ago. A fine city, as the signs say. #outandproudasaUEAgraduate

Irrespective of the judgement that is being made of the local club's skills, this comment seems to imply that lesbians aren't very good footballers. To that extent, it could be deemed to be homophobic.

What if, hypothetically speaking, it could be demonstrated that lesbians are not very good footballers, would the comment still be homophobic?

It does often follow that people who engage in these chants are inclined to hurl other abuse that is inappropriate nowadays. I don't think Carrow Road would miss them.

When I was about to go through the turnstiles at Tottenham, a group of their supporters walked past, the Police in open view, with one of the singing about Brighton being a town full of ball shaped meat off-cuts, referencing his team to be 'Yids', and alluding to a friend called Harry Roberts, all in the space of about a minute. No attempt was made to correct the error of his dialogue.

As usual, the Albion fans suggested his countenance was too miss-shaped to reveal a preference towards same sex relationships, and he scuttled off with his mates- seemingly self conscious of his ugly mug.

Sometimes sarcasm is the greatest form of wit.

Also, out of interest, when you say 27000 ATTEND do you mean actually turn up or just buy a ticket? A great deal of our 25k or so "crowds" only seem to have mastered the latter.

Dont forget they have extra fingers so not the best at adding up in a traditional manner like us nancy boys .

Does that mean LB that they are skilled at being a lesbian ? Great stuff.

I imagine the women of Norfolk make great lesbians on account of them all having 6 fingers so being able to make an extra massive fist.

I seem to recall certain elements of the home crowd at Ipswich being amongst the most cretinous we encountered last season. If Norwich turned out to be even bigger troglodytes than the (minority of) fans at Portman Road, that would be astounding.

Remember the guy repeatedly making limp hand gestures & pointing to his arse, and then being escorted out by stewards...in front of his young son (who looked about eight or nine)? Father of the Year 2013, right there.

Homophobia in sport only matters in football and specifically when it involves games we play in.....Or at least it seems that way.

Don't recall anyone going into melt down over Billy Joe Saunders comments the other week about the padded seats at the Amex!?!?

I think you'll find that Watford & Man City fans also get homophobic abuse.

I remember Elton John getting abuse but don't remember (homophobic) abuse being aimed at Watford fans. It's been a while since I have seen them but I have never heard of homophobic abuse being aimed at Citeh fans.
