Looked 4-4-2 to me with Robinson RM and Cox LM.

It is Wilkins' coaching vision that is making these rigid definitions redundant, we seem to switch so rapidly between 4-3-3 and 4-4-2 these days. I think both you and Doug are right, Robinson spent much of the night in very advanced positions but would retreat in defensive situations.

The only disappointing thing for me about the flexible formation (or was it the pairing with Gatting) is that it didn't seem to bring the best out of Revell.

I am not a fan of Robinson being pushed wide.

Chatting to a BBC Carlisle bloke after the game, he thought Robbo looked our best player but asked why he was not playing down the middle. I said he normally does and had scored most of his goals from there.

he thought Robbo was our best player.

No way, we are already over target for safety and the team is good enough to pick up the remaining 20 pts quite comfortably, by March I would say.

Brentford, B'muff and Cheltenham looks certs to go down but the fourth team will be something of an unlucky one I reckon, maybe even Northamption, who have our rotten home form but not our decent away form, and they look like they are panicking in trying to sell McGleish.

Tricky one.

Theory One: Wilkins is losing faith in Robinson

Theory Two: Wilkins has seen Robinson get fairly little out of some journeymen central defenders since Huddersfield in October and is right to try something new and give him more space to use his pace.

Take your pick.
