I think it's somewhat like having chairs with the fold out leg rests. They sound good in the shop but you forget about them after a week or two.

3D is a fad and is dying away at the cinema now. Might as well have it if the TV comes with it, but you'll never use it.

Another 25 cinematic releases before the end of 2013 and 25 already in production for 2014 suggests there is still money to be made from 3D at the cinema box office.

I've always wondered how much difference they make to Football games?

Camera is lower down than usual, some of the shots are breathtaking but the best I've seen on 3d is darts

Yep, but the appetite for it is in decline and probably will continue to do so.

Postman Pat - The Movie is being released in time for the Xmas holidays , I guess many parents will be pestered by their pre-teens to take them to watch it

Probably the percentage split between box office takings on 3D/2D viewings at the cinema. Figures maybe skewed especially in the US where a premium is added to the ticket price to watch the film in 3D.

With the cameras at pitchside the camera angle gives the impression you are watching from the front row (known at away games as "Love Bus Mode")

Yes

Although the LG ones that came with my tv are a better fit over my bins

Films with a $250M+ budget and expected to be blockbusters get the 3D treatment unlike a 15 minute short about yak farming in Mongolia shot on a hand-held with a £10k budget.

If you want a 3D set nows the time big reductions the reason demand is tailing off,films are now showing 2D & 3D because once you have seen a number of 3D you dont want to pay the additional charge.

I'm guessing you don't go to the cinema very often if you think it's only the US that adds a premium for 3D tickets?!

On a similar note, what are 3D movies like? We've never been to one before and Mrs P want to go and see The Great Gatsby tonight, but the only showing that fits into our time frame is in 3D. Are they any good?

Went to the cinema this afternoon , first time I've seen a 3D film - it was good although I guess some films are better for it then others (not my choice but got dragged to see the new Star Trek film)

My nearest multiplex is in Cleethorpes which is run by a small independent chain (3 locations). They don't differentiate on pricing. I paid £4.70 on Wednesday to see Star Trek Into Darkness in 3D as the cashier thought I was a senior citizen The regular adult price was only £6.

It's great to watch but i find after a while you kind of forget it's 3D.

You get about 30mins of wow and then the rest kind of feels normal.

This for me. Had my first proper 3D experience (bar mucking about trying on the glasses in Tesco) a couple of weeks ago, watching Iron Man 3. At first it looked brilliant but then you just forget it's 3D. Great film by the way.

A bit of a catch all phrase "smart tv", but the general idea is that the TV can access some Internet content, via a simple to use TV interface, rather than something designed for computer. This can include things like youtube, Netflix proprietary content, but also streaming from home devices. If you think this can be of value, it can make a difference as to which set you choose to buy.
