This thread is not the place to start a campaign from. Flattering though it is. My point is the FFA team needs to pick this up and run with it. A few banners up in the area saying "Your council has spent £134,000 on a planning project in Brighton!"

Sort of agree. However, £3.62 is up close and personal, unlike £134,000, and offers a lot of scope for imaginative stunts.

It would be better still if someone could obtain a higher figure than this that included internal costs.

This would only happen if we had someone on the inside and then presuming that they keep a record of time spent on projects and cost per employee. However, i don't see any reason why you could not email the Councillor who responded to you in the first place and ask him how much of your money has been spent internally on staff wages etc.

Lets get a true figure! And if he doesn't know complain that they are obviously not keeping a sharper enough eye on costs and projects. This should be public knowledge!

There must be publicly available official minutes from the council meetings where they decide how to approve expenditure of public money. If not, then they're being very naughty boys and girls... ???

I would suggest action "now" rather than later would be better... the aim should be to get LDC to withdraw before the re-opening of the inquiry (a very diificult goal)... at the very least, LDC should know that they are not going to be able to make decsions like spending an extra £35k on their anti-Falmer stadium rant, and delaying the re-opening of the inquiry. without disenfranchising a large proportion of their electorate...

I have sent a number of e-mail messages to LDC councillors, but I don't live in their area... the pressure really needs to come from those who live there...

I hope Paul Samrah et al at FFA are reading this, and can get behind a concerted effort to stop LDC ar, at least, put them under severe pressure...

This is why I reckon it should be a sticky on NSC with a better headline. I came across this thread by accident, and don't live in Lewes.
How many Lewes based Albion fans who log onto NSC occasionally, have we missed by not having this thread more prominent?
And the FFA team too, for that matter.
And Lammy, you should be flattered, it is a very good point, what has this got to do with Lewes council?

I am very very angry that LDC have spent this money. Have they taken a look at the state of the road from Peacehaven - Newhaven its a bloody death trap for cyclists and pedestrians who have to use the path to get to peacehaven and vice versa. We must have a case against them becuase I am Brighton and Hove supporter but live under LDC and I have not been asked whether I wanted a stadium or not, secondly they are wasting our money, this is bloody criminal. How many people in LDC actually know how much money they have spent?
I bet many people would be very angry to find out considering a majority of people are paying near on £30.00 a week.

The roads are a government issue. I wouldn't mention that. It's a tricky situation. We have government issues, East Sussex County Council Issues and Lewes District Council issues. It's not always easy to see who is supposed to do what.

The District councils are usually made up of a load of retired old bids with nothing better to do. Often, they haven't lived in the area very long have simply come to Sussex to die!

Whether or not the decision to spend this last lot of money can be reversed I don't know but,

Under no circumstances must LDC be allowed to spend any further money whatsoever challenging a YES decision with a judicial review.

Councillor Neil Commin happens to be a teacher at Bhasvic (and my old tutor there) so if anyone is there be sure to tell him (as I did on many occasions) that Lewes DC are talking out of their arse and using the money of many supporters to pay for it.

Shame really, apart from that he's a really nice bloke. Surprisingly enough no interest in football though.
