I guess it all comes down to how you define intelligence and what you value in someone's mental ability.

If you value the ability to solve little puzzles in the quickest time, if you value the skill of playing the game in the way you're told to play it, and if you hold in higher regard the adhering to the tried and tested formula, then I guess IQ tests would be a pretty solid way of measuring someone’s mental prowess.

If, however, you value the attributes of creativity of thought, of willingness to explore new paths and challenge old ideas with a fresh ideas and perspectives, and the ability to forge new ways of doing things and create new art forms, then they’d probably seem pretty inadequate.

Come on dwayne – you can’t be telling me that the pioneers of rap and hip hop, undoubtedly extremely talented and gifted artists as they are, are mentally subordinate to a bunch of Oxbridge inbreds who are able to score higher on IQ tests?

measuring creative thought is too subjective we will have to agree to disagree.
