You can get used ones off Amazon.

Renting seems to be a bit much. Surely there must be some kind of payment plan somewhere.... I would imagine that would be little more than £50 a month, with a down payment.

Yeah i'm looking at used ones off Amazon.. that Philips 26" Widescreen LCD Flat TV 26PF5520D can be bought used for £510.. which is loads cheaper... but how much can you trust Used.. it says the condition is 'Like New'.. but doesn't say why!

aha.. yeah renting.. hadn't thought of that

Got mine from Boxclever.

No down payment, signed the direct debit agreement when it turned up.

I phoned them on a Wednesday, they delivered the following Saturday, with a two hour time slot, the delivery guy set it up, plugged all my peripherals and did the paperwork there and then.

Very impressive service.

The other advantage is, if it DOES go wrong, it's their problem not mine.

That's still more than the £30 a month I pay to rent, plus if anything goes wrong (even once it's out of guarantee) they have to fix it. You can also (if you can be bothered) upgrade to newer models fairly regularly (every few years) without any extra cost.

Boxclever?

Worst outfit under the sun-closed all their stores in a way (creative accountancy) that no employee got any redundancy payments whatsoever (Mrs Bwian was one of their managers who got screwed out of £14k). Also part of the ITV group that screwed every League Club in the country...

Wouldn't give scumbag companies like that one penny of my hard earned....

I used to rent a TV from Boxclever. Then decided I didn't want it anymore. Phoned them up to terminate the agreement. 10 mins later I got a call from their call centre asking if I wanted to buy the equipment rather than send it back. I said "ok - how much?" They said "what do you want to pay?"
By this point I was losing patience, so I said "£10".
Cheeky twat on the other end of the phone said "it would help us all if you were sensible about this."

Conversation didn't last much longer...

Probably an expensive leasson learnt. Wholesalers like Game probably have to spend £200 for an XBox 360 - there is no way anyone can offer one for £99. Some people will get goods as they do at mock auctions - word of mouth spreads, orders come in and they rake in money without shipping goods.
