We hit the woodwork twice that day, didn't we? A Clive Walker header in the first half and a Wilkins free kick in the second.
I still believe to this day we had too many aging players who knew they were out of a job if we won that day, I'm probably wrong but that's how it felt at the time, we really didn't turn up on the day, I know Wilkins was visibly distraught after the game but I can't recall anyone else being upset.
Unless I've missed a result somewhere, the 4-1 win over Millwall that season remains the only home play-off match we've ever won.
Yes it is, also one of only 3 play off games we've ever won, Swindon away and Bristol City at the millennium being the others iirc
We won AT Millwall as well.
We ruined that day by turning up wearing Chewitt wrappers. The writing was on the wall as soon as they entered the pitch. No wonder Wendy cried.
We won AT Millwall as well.
That away game summed up everything wrong with football back then. I went on the coach as a 14 year old and was terrified.
