confused by your statement , potential away games at Upton Park , Selhurst Park , St Mary's and Fratton Park , Madejski etc etc might make our travelling support average a bit more.

i would have thought it would have been more than that, but still a good turn out, even thou there were 2 guys in front of me who were more interested in talking about chelsea and who there next manager was going to be, and when we scored they didnt even celebrate, what the f*** were chelsea fans there for? as they were away to wba and a guy next to me who was more interested on how his bets were getting on than the game, then a guy who looked f***ing awful in his blue tracksuit with a jean jacket who either had a bladder problem or was f***ing hungry and he kept walking past all game

true but think we must have taken 1000+ to nearly 15 games this season? Although i hope to be proven wrong i think with 16,000+ season ticket holders a lot who have been battering the away games last few years may be more interested in home games now, after all its a pricey life following home and away! Also dont think we'll take as many as people think to the likes of Coventry,Hull,Derby,Middlesbrough,Burnley etc

Also palace, pompy, reading will probs only be 2500 allocations wont they??

You get 3,400 at Palace and 4,200 at Reading.

Portsmouth is about 2,600 I think.

The games at Coventry , Hull , Derby , Middlesbrough and Burnley etc will also see good away support from seagulls in exile , we don't all live down sarf you know.

i know i know, and im not living in Brighton now but remember going to those places last time we were in the Champs and we wernt taking thousands! Hopefully with us playing a far more attractive football now and the fact we could potentially have another good season it may boost numbers. Our average this season is up around 1500 though which is bloody decent

The stand behind the goal holds 1900 and was pretty packed, although there were a few empty seats, we also had half of the banks, capacity 2400, so we had 1900 + ~1200 = ~3100 seats available, we sold most of them but there were a fair few empty seats, especially where I was towards the halfway line, I'd say ~2800 is a good guess.

The stand behind the goal had plenty of empty seats, and the front three rows were nearly all empty due to flags/stewards stopping people getting frisky.

I'm sure that El Presidente is right with his list of reasons why people didn't go, just left with a feeling of mild disappointment that we couldn't fill our seats for such a special occasion.

The Championship.
What im trying to say though is, about two and half thousand fans going up was pretty good. I know we were going up to maybe win the league but all in all a very good atmosphere throughout.

I guess you were in it? Looked full from where I was but then I guess you get a different impression from different angles. Do you still think it was a bad turnout from us?

Would say 2800 myself and the poster above who laid it out seemed to sum up why. Their end was big obviously but very sparse while we were packed in pretty tight. Good atmosphere I felt :D

Not good, not bad. We've not won a lot of silverware in my lifetime, so surprised so many gave it a swerve, can understand why though, they certainly missed a great day out.

I think the consensus of comments in relation to this was

1: Cost
2: Promotion is more important than winning the title
3: The season was effectively over
4: More interested in attending the Southampton, HTFC and Notts Co matches.

5. Easter holidays and when booking them months ago, at least two regular away attendees that I know of, booked so that they would be back for next Sats game rather than going to Walsall.

It wasn't nearly as good as Rochdale. But then the more southern, better attended ones rarely are so good, atmosphere wise (Charlton aside).

You can add a few more Albion fans to that number as there were definately more than a few in the Walsall end.

And yes, the front seats were covered to stop a pitch invasion. I overheard a Walsall steward tell another steward that brighton fans were well-known for pitch invasions (this was before the match, in the hospitality suite).

There was barely an empty seat behind the goal mate,.... we were quite wide to the left of the goal as you look at the pitch and there weren't any spare seats, even down the front was full. The stand down the side looked about 4/5ths full.... no less than that.

The other end of your stand had some big spaces though, harder to tell when people are standing but i saw one row with 5 blocks standing in the space of 9 chairs, it doesnt look empty but it should have more...
