Be interesting to see where Ross Barkley ends up. Yes I know he has has problems in the past. But to go to Luton, for a year and be there stand out performer, would suggest whatever was going on in his life, is behind him and shows great desire to get moving in the right direction again. Can't see him going to a top six and ticks a lot of boxes for us on the field. I'd be amazed if we were not keeping a very close eye on him.

Do we need to be thinking about getting a young future replacement for Dunky?

I know this might be seen as sacrilege but he's shown signs of creaking under the strain this season.

We need the future Dunky to be ready when he is no longer able to maintain his high standards or play the number of games we play.

Either way, RDZ has said he would have liked to rest Dunky at times this season but we don't have the players to allow that. So, we need additional CB cover.

Levi Colwill was the one that got away. Would have been worth breaking the bank for imho. He loved it here and slotted right in. And yes, yes it is easy spending somebody else's money :bla: :bla:

I agree. I fear that he (and Veltman) are possibly ‘on the turn’ as age and the sheer volume/intensity of games catches up with them.

I really hope Lewis reaches 500 appearances next season - he’s currently on 454- and becomes our 2nd top appearance maker of all time as that would be amazing for a local lad to achieve, but I think we need 2 new CB’s as a minimum this summer.

The football world is in a state of flux with PSR/FFP. Time for Tony and the club to shift the narrative around their "Business" model. Some established talent is probably being sounded out.

I think we are. Emin Bayram seems a target at the moment...

I think that this window may be different with FFP and we may make 2 or 3 (financially) significant signings. Other than that, maybe another 2/3 who may go straight into the 1st team squad or U23s, a couple moving up from the U23 and another few youngsters. It's the Brighton way

No I dont. Think he is ok but think the £35m could of been better spent. Great he is scoring penalties but 1600 minutes in the league 400 minutes between non-penalty goals 800 minutes between assists. If we can get money back or make small profit I would do it not sure the club would agree
f*** a duck. That is the most clueless post I’ve ever, ever seen on NSC and that really is saying something. Jesus Christ. I don’t know what more to say. Incredible.

Colwill probably available this summer with Chelsea needing to make home-grown sales to meet 23-24 FFP.

Imagine the wages he’s getting there may be an issue though.

That's the problem, yes.

As soon as we failed last summer, Chelsea gave him a new improved, Chelsea salaried contract, putting him out of our reach.

Doubtless that would be the case. But what a signing of intent that would be, as we used to say in ye olden days. I think we last used it when we signed CMS 😄

We already have JPvH but if you're thinking about somebody to play alongside him, yes, we do need to be looking longer-term. Lots of encouraging signs about Freddie Simmonds on this front but given he's just turned 16 might be three or four years away (as CBs tend to start later). I've been one of Webster's biggest advocates since we signed him but it's obvious that he's not cut out for DeZerbiball and it'd be best all round if he moved on over the summer. We do need a quality CB -- maybe early 20s -- to complement the other three for next season.

Guaranteed the club are thinking very hard about life without Gross and Dunk..not that that would be next season you'd hope, but they'll definitely be very focussed getting people in before that sad day comes. That's not just two excellent players, it's also the two most experienced, and the two biggest on-field leaders. Huge, huge boots to fill.

The answer to the Gross question is Barclay.
He's been a revelation in that deeper role this season. Definitely has a few more years in him. Fantastic at beating the press. Versatile. Experienced.
Can't see it happening but If you put the 23/24 Barclay in our midfield you'd instantly improve it massively.

I thought you were being left field and suggesting Trout
