It's unlikely to have been a very large balloon if people outside the arena heard it. Network rail is suggesting the train line has been blocked, sounds horrific 
Suzy Mitchell, who lives opposite the venue, said: "(I) just heard a huge bang from my bed, came out to the front of my apartments (we're on the top floor so have perfect view) and everyone was running away in big crowds.

News talk that the 'explosion' may have set off panic amongst crowd. Some concert goers reporting that they were temporarily crushed by crowds of people running.
