I've voted dragon purely based on its name and the picture, but what does it actually do? I assumed it's an absolute nutcase but I havent seen any evidence of this yet.

Exactly the same with me but I am starting to doubt it. It seems to have a long tongue, slithers around and occasionally bites.

I need someone to give me the facts on what makes this Komodo so HARD.

pratts about on an island with its fellow dragons, and every now and again bites something, injecting it with poison so it slowly dies

compare this with the croc who just SAVAGES other animals and humans for fun and has been doing so across the world for millions of years

this looks like a classic case of voting without knowing the true facts, and its attitudes like that that get the bnp into positions of power. i hope you feel suitably ashamed of yourself

Stephen bloody Fry walked amongst a pack of them, on their island, with not much protection and without a bloody whimper. They are a poor entry in the Worlds Hardest Creature competition, and to be honest, I am quite disgusted they have got this far.

A 2 year old knows how hard a crocodile is.

I am disappointed you have voted without gathering the facts first CB. I hope others don't follow in your footsteps. For the sake of the crocodile.

anyone who is in ANY doubt about who to vote for in this contest need merely read this

do you see stephen fry walking among a pack of crocodiles? of course you bloody dont. why? because there would be hands and arms and legs strewn all over the place as he was ripped into a thousand pieces. it would look like somebody taking a chainsaw to a piece of gammon

if the croc does not win this match up then it is the day i give up not just on nsc, but on society itself.

Having spent the last 15 minutes finding out all I can about the Komodo, I have noticed a strong advantage of it is its ability to blend in wit the environment around it. When camouflaged, the Komodo would have time to face up to the Croc, inject its poison, then watch as the helpless crocodile slowly leaves this planet...

the croc has EQUALLY good powers of camoflauge - should the komodo be seeking a drink from a water hole, it would fail to see the croc lurking in the water, and BANG, SNAP, death roll and thats the dragon underwater and ripped in half

not that such a battle could ever take place as the dragon is SO hard that it CANNOT live outside indonesia

oh, shall i bite this zebra with poison and then have to wait ages for it to die so i can eat it in a COWARDLY attack, or shall i just rip its head off with my ridiculously powerful bite?

No contest in my opinion. It's an easy win for the twice beaten finalist croc against the Komodo dragon who, I feel, has ridden it's luck somewhat to reach the quaters. But at this level there's nowhere to hide and sadly for the Dragon relying on biting something and waiting for it to slowly die is not good enough. Certainly not when face to face with the prehistoric killing machine.

Dragon for me. They cover the ground much quicker and also have their own song, puff the magic dragon. No contest.

Komodos are punching well above their weight. All you need to ward one off is a stick with a Y-shaped end. All you need do is put the 'Y' bit on the animal's neck and push its head down. That effectively immobilises it. The park rangers on Komodo island national park use them - they don't need anything else.

Would a croc give up so easily?

of course it wouldnt - it would snap the twig in half and then do exactly the same to your LEG

In the meantime the crocodile will tear the Komodo apart limb from limb sending it to the big dinosaur in the sky far sooner than the komodo dragon's lethargic posion will do for the croc. Thus the best a komodo could ever hope for in this match up is a draw. And that's assuming that a)it's able to get a bite at the croc and b) it's pathetically weak jaws are strong enough to pierce the tough crocodile hide. The Komodo is simply going to come off worse 99% of the time.

A dragon that can't breathe fire or fly is worthless.

Ah we are now literally entering the Realm of Fantasy, mind you I would pay good money to watch, for example, Smaug take on some of these beasties.

I think his combination of aerial mobility and long distance killing ability via flaming breath would ask some serious questions of the competition.
