Would like to get back to Berlin next year and will be going to Lake District. Would like to go somewhere a bit more exotic but time and money dictate my movements for the time being. Berlin is great though and the Lakes are my favourite spot in the UK so not much to moan about there!

Have just had a very cheap week in La Dordogne pulled out from underneath, as the wife's new job won't allow holidays during school time.

Why would anybody living less than 30 miles from LGW book a holiday more than a fortnigfht before they wanted to go away? Unless they got kids of course. But even then, there's big bargains to be had for the brave that don't book up six months ahead.

Even with a kid, that what we usually do in the summer. We both book the same fortnight off work, then about 2 or 3 weeks before hand, drop into to Tommy Cooks and say "What you got?" The only criteria we give them is an apartment complex with a pool somewhere hot. Best deal we ever got was 4 summers ago, 2 weeks in Foca, Turkey for £800 for all three of us!

I'm with you there. I don't even know where I want to go in 2008, let alone want to book it now!

Berlin hopefully with a mate in June or early July, depending on who's playing there (usually go each year for 3 nights and take in a gig), may take Mum for a week in Wales in May for the spring migration (birds), as the old man is off, God willing, to the one day cricket in New Zealand. My biggy, if it happens, will be to go and visit a lad I support in Lesotho. The charity I belong to is building a pre-school in Justice's village, and he is the Project Manager, at just 27. Might be something of a working visit. With flights available from Gatwick to Jo'burg, it would be a pity to miss seeing the project, and I have a fair amount of banked leave. Anybody else on here been there?

We have no option with kids at school but to book early to ensure we can go.

I would rather leave it later however you can't guarantee you can go to where you want to.

Well, am off to Abu Dhabi for Christmas (Great, no Slade !) but I think a honeymoon in The Philippines could be on the cards. Might be Canada though, I would prefer that.
