What is the best gig you have been to this year?

I have seen The Men They Couldnt Hang (100 club), The Police (Twickenham), Arcade Fire (Alexandra Palace), Saw Doctors (Shepherds Bush), The Verve (O2), Kaiser Chiefs (Brighton Centre) and Bruce Springsteen (O2) this year (been a quiet year for gigs for me!)

I have to say that they were all pretty good, tough call as to which was the best. First time I had seen Arcade Fire and they were better than I expected live!

I think I would put that top of my list (just!)

I already have Springsteen and Radiohead booked for next year.

Numero uno - Chemical Brothers @ Bestival - ridiculous visuals.

Runners up

Coldcut @ Glastonbury - mental, no other word for it.
Kate Nash @ Glastonbury - pissed it down but she was f***ing excellent (though I had just double dropped twice so this may have figured in my conclusions)
Polysics @ Concorde - best live band on the planet.
Wu Tang Clan @Hammersmith - They ALL turned up minus ODB of course (RIP).

Babyshambles in Bournemouth were really good
Nine Black Alps at Reading, probably best band of the weekend
Larrikin Love in Brighton one of there last gigs but they were brilliant.
Also saw Shed 7 in Shepards Bush last week which was great to see them play all there classics.

LCD Soundsystem at the Academy in Manchester was a great big bowl of awesomeness.

I also enjoyed The Egg at Concorde, not many people but Waxed Apple were supporting and due to our pissed up state Nibble and myself found them good and amusingly shit all at the same time. Oh yeah, and The Egg are mint.

The Twang in Brixton springs to mind.

Hastings band called Youngplan put a cracking show on at the Crypt as well.

You still banging on about Youngplan Richie? Thought they were supposed to make an amazing break through this year?
