On the front line were we Mr S?

Safe and sound in several fine drinking establishments in Heidelberg, but it tallies with both what various individuals told us and the look and behaviour of the more lively element of England's support that we did see in Stuttgart.

Interesting that yesterday's News of the Screws featured a whole page devoted to the England fans being arrested in Stuttgart, and the general hooligans, shock horror, angle.

Yet a couple of pages previously in the same newspaper, a massive 2 inches of one column mentioned that 50 people were arrested at the first day of Royal Ascot.

Go figure...

Although, to be fair, the Ascot marauders were on the front page of The Sun the other day. Great headline, too: BRAWL ASCOT :clap2:

When I was out there in Cologne for the Sweden game, our fans were by and large excellent. That said, there were pockets of drunken twats singing "10 German bombers" which is both embarrassing and offensive given the warm welcome the Germans have been giving their guests.

I've since read that German bottle throwing dickheads were responding to "racist and/or offensive anti-German songs". So not unlike Millwall singing about Hillsborough to the scousers not so long ago. i.e. Two groups of utter pricks with absolutely no class.

Just got back from the game. I was drinking where it kicked off next to the fan park, there were probably about 500 english stsnding on steps singing and watching the game on the big screen. I left as soon as the german game finished, so missed the trouble by about 5 minutes. It sounds as if it's been blown well out of proportion, there weren't any real nutters there, just alot of people who very drunk on the jugs of beer they were selling. Factor in that the Germans had just won and were getting a bit mouthy it was an obvious flash point but it was more like women with handbags really.
When I returned the police had separated the england fans and I think were nicking a few people who were involved. There was no bad atmosphere between the fans and i've read that they only charged three people, that says it all really.

Simster, I think you'll find that most people, including me, have been singing the 10 german bombers song, it's more than a few pockets of 'drunken twats'. It's not malicious, it's just part of the banter and the majority of Germans have shown that they have got a sense of humour, which is obviously more than you've got. If you don't like it why don't you go to a museum and leave the football to people who enjoy it
