I started in 1998 and remember posting when you had to type your (or anyone else's) name in each time. It was a total free for all.

Assumed MBH soon afterwards and really started posting more from 1999 when I moved away to study. I distinctly remember starting an 'Ants' thread about this time about getting rid of an ant infestation in a student dig.

I also remember Bozza, having seen I was posting from Bristol, offering me a lift to watch us play in Stoke one day and thinking 'blimey, this is actually a real community' rather than a bunch of random people ****ing about online*.

Anyway, NSC is much better these days.

*I have now learnt that it is a real community of people ****ing about online.

One of the toughest days I ever had, as a moderator on NSC, was the day that tickets went on sale for the play-off final at Cardiff.

"Someone" (no names, no packdrill) started a thread that said something along the lines of "If you don't get yourself down to Withdean in the next half hour, there is no chance of you getting a ticket".

Outcome - the word spread and the queues rapidly grew to unmanageable lengths. Martin Perry managed to get hold of me by phone and I spent a few hours trying to stem the panic, which had, of course spilt over into other sites like the Argus comments columns.

A nightmare that we could all have done without. Especially since it turned out that there were still unsold tickets by the time the game actually took place.

The 9/11 thread was titled "What the f**k is happening at the World Trade Centre?" I found it very sad seeing Robert Eatons last post as "Ricky Marlowes Hairpiece", on a thread, the day before.

On NSC for over two decades...

At least it was a nice day to queue in... and an even better day in Cardiff!

I don't think we'll ever see such a queue of Albion fans for tickets for one match quite like that ever again, what with online booking and everything. That was the last of its era I should imagine.

I wasn't here right at the start. I would have joined around 2001 time - I met Fatboy at University who introduced me to the site. I remember those days of manually entering your username (or just posting as "anonymous")... and the NSC meetup (at the pub whose name I've long forgotten), playing the 83 Cup Final on the big screen all evening!

Falmer stadium is a PIPE DREAM! (What was that guy's name.......?)

You and I (Buzza) must have joined at the same time. Funnily enough we both know Fatboy as well (Does he post under another name these days?). The pub was The Lord Nelson, Didn't Safeway and Artois (and a few others) organise it? It was a good laugh.

When I first joined, it was Dwayne and Taffy and Watford O against the world. There was also a Cardiff fan called The Laughing Bluebird, who turned out to be decent bloke at the Nelson ( a lot of people did).

My favourite thread is till Kev The Ape and his mum going down to Falmer.

Neither here nor there
I sometimes think about dredging ancient threads to find examples of comments like "Falmer is a pipe dream", "it's ridiculous to think we'll ever build there", "Waterhall is the only realistic option" etc.

Then I remember I have work to do, kids to bring up, and a life to live ...

Right here, right now
I was on from around the start...we have lost some good people since those days....sarah, Tony L, Frank....

Also whatever happened to nIce Mr hitler..NMH? Someone said he moved to Sweden, but I miss his putdowns.
I can confirm that NMH (Nice Mister Hilter) is alive and well and living in Stockholm. And very envious I am of him too!

There was a fantastic one where a baby seagull was rescued from a chimney, complete with pics and a "well now what do I do ?" theme running.

High up on the South Downs.
Whatever happened to Eric from Vancouver and some off the other eccentric posters?
Regardless, my memory is of a more serious NSC because it was part of the fight to oust Archer and Stanley, return to Brighton and build the new stadium.
