There is a lot of positive there but the one elephant in the room for me is that we haven't replaced the nouse and knowhow of Gross, Lallana and Milner (he will never play for us again I expect). Welbeck, Dunk and Veltman aren't enough to carry the inexperience of the rest and it's showing.

Maybe I wasn't paying attention but I think, re: Milner, he is more useful around the squad than he is in it. Did he have many good games for us?

Point being that we can still reap the benefits of his aura regardless of if he's wearing the shirt.

Our 30+ players are Welbeck, Dunk, Veltman, Webster, Steele, Milner and Solly.
Dunk has shown he isn't good enough anymore, Veltman has good experience and good with dark arts, but isn't blessed with huge talent, Solly has spent more time injured than playing PL football, plus isn't experience in upper PL football. In fact, the only 2 with that experience is Welbeck and Milner.

To be fair, he would probably be struggling for the names of a few U-16s. I've got his back.

The OP has a point, albeit a terrible aptitude for maths

All the criticism of the signings, all the moaning about the inconsistency, the lack of physicality, the lack of game management and know how. Surely all that can be put down to a very low average age (being propped up by Dunky, Veltman and Welbeck).

Now it's fair to make the argument that we should be buying older players, with more top league experience. But that should come with an admission that comes with a higher wage attached to the player and a much lower likelihood of being able to turn a profit when we sell them.

You also can't ignore the impact injuries have had on our season and having a manager, who is clearly having to learn in the toughest environment possible. Inconsistency and frustrating results surely must be priced into this season
Steady on! Intelligent argument, reasoned points and proper perspective don't go down to well on here with some :lolol:

Hyperbole! Conspiracies! Random assumptions! Doom and gloom! The sky is falling!
That's the ticket.

Webster, Steele and Solly don't meet the calibre of Gross, Lallana and Milner for on pitch high end aptitude and experience. Sure all have general experience but not in the same mould for me.
Neither Lallana or Milner are on the same page as Gross . . . . . Solly is, as are Webster and Steele on occasion. . . . I won't start on reliability. . . . So what was yout point? Apart from the fact Lallana and Milner have gone mouldy. . .

Steele, Solly, nor Webster have competed for trophies at the top echelons of the game and therefore for me don't quite have that elite performance mentality. Gross hasn't either competed but extols such similar virtues as Milner and Lallana that I consider him in the same category of eliteness that drives and demands top level performance from others at all times and knows what it takes to reach such levels.

Sure, Welbeck has, as has Veltman to a degree, and Dunk has excellent leadership characteristics but for my mind we're 1-3 players light in that capacity to drive and demand the same from such a young squad.
