The Large One said:I was pitch side when the players came piling out. Originally Martin Perry was there, and then everyone just came out. A couple of the players got over the fence and on to the pitch. That's when the stewards tried to send them back. Danny Cullip shot the chief steward a few choice remarks.
Some of the players were reluctant to go on, so there was me and about 10 other people I'd gone to the game with yelling at them to get on the pitch. OGH really wanted to, and in the end just said 'f*** it, hold them'. So I ended up with OGH's sandwiches. Guy Butters was moaning that he was so knackered that he couldn't get his leg over... A couple of other players getting over the fence soon persuaded him.
From the view I had (the same as Dick Knight's - I was standing next to him.) they whole spectacle was awesome. There was cameras, journalists, players with banners, and the Brighton fans making the biggest racket going. One I am never gogin to forget. Shame that no-one took a picture from where we were. Marvellous scenes, though.
When the players came off, and the crowd were shouting 'there's only one Dick Knight', the poor fella was close to tears. I think he was really lifted by that moment.
