MA, said he has been given the green light to sign 2 new strikers. He didnt say whether on loan or permanent but why is it that other clubs can bring them in when needed, like Parkin to Orient,McLeish to Northampton, short term loans but we cannot get anybody. Is it due to the wages we pay, as DK says that our budget is one of the best in the division , or is it the fact nobody likes us, Brighton as a town to live or stay in or what.

Yes, people on here love a good moan and getting inadequate loaners is but one subject. However, Adams and Knight get accused of dragging their feet because they they're try to sign somebody halfway decent.

Can't win can they ?

Since when could we not get anyone? Savage? Anyinsah? Thornton? Johnson? Richards?

It just so happens we haven't been able to get our mits on an out and out decent striker yet.

McGlesh would never come here anyway, he knows he's hated here but he's rejoined Norf'amtun. Parkin is at Orient and didn't seem to be much help to them last night.

Mickey is suffering from the Withdean factor like most of managers previous to him.

Player and agent look for best deal and due to our circumstances and wage structure we are in a pecking order. Sadly clubs like Wycome, Yeovil & Rushden are above us in this order.

All the managers have been knocked back by decent players who have got better deals. Mickey like the others has done well Thorton & Jo both look great lets hope he can get someone in with an eye for goal and a bit of passion.

I think by long term MA means 3 months rather than 1 month.

We're probably looking at any Championship side which has a plethora of strikers. Maybe Wolves? Is Ebanks-Blake getting a game there?

He scored 2 last night. Has been averageing pretty much 2 goals avery 3 or 4 games. Volkes, on the othe hand, had been doing a lot of benchwarming.

I also believe that Bothroyd is still on the books, but nowhere near the first team at Wolves.
[edit] Bothroyd has actually now been sold to Cardiff.

(I apologise for my uber-knowledge of Wolves - I work next door to Molineux and the girlfriend is a massive Wolves fan)

What about Eastwood? Did they sell him in the end?

Eastwood has been sold to Coventry (he didn't get on with Mick McCarthy). Has been playing pretty much every game for Cov.

AS DK has said himself...........he is a very stubborn (take that as "tight") person to deal with financially, and I would imagine he has a "reputation" in football circles for this.

Ok for saving money...........but not OK when we,re desperate for replacements. How many times have we "lost out" to other clubs because of this...?

Of course, I thought he'd gone somewhere but I wasn't sure.

I think by long term MA means 3 months rather than 1 month.

Outside of the transfer windows you can only sign loan players for a maximum of 93 days (I am sure its 93 days). This is the maximum allowed for emergancy loans which all loans made outside of the windows are classed as.

It would make sense to make sure we got a player for as long as we are allowed to have a longer term benefit for the team. One of the major stumbling blocks with the 93 day loan is that a player cannot be recalled by his parent club during the first 30 day loan period so if they have an injury crisis they have to go without the loaned player as well. I don't think this applies to 1 month loans, they can be recalled at any time.
