Why ? makes perfect sense to me, he is a free agent, he can/should wait until the last day/few hours to see what offers come along.

Precisely this. Keane being a free agent means the balls very much in his court. No point in him signing for someone early in the window when potentially an option will become desperate and give him an extra 10k a week. He will sign for someone, it may happen after the window has shut

The problem with him waiting until the window is shut is that decent teams should have signed their players by then, so he'll be choosing between those that messed up. For example, if we want him and he wants to come here (but on the best deal) and he won't sign until Wednesday, we'll have had no choice but to get someone else instead and we'll no longer want him.

So leave it to the last couple of days, but not the last minute.

People who are free agents could be having a holiday and family time before choosing their new employer and getting on with the fresh start fully rejuvenated, especially if they have a whole season not a half season in the bag and are already multi millionaires.

I think we'll get someone in, but unfortunately just a young back up development type or loan

Another issue is that he isn't fit. You'd want him in and up to speed as quickly as possible, it's not like he is one for the future!

Hahahahahaha.

It really, really, REALLY isn't.

Exactly. How people still think this sort of thing given our record with him in the team this season and without him is beyond me. It is so clear that he is a massive part of the success this season and replacing him would be very difficult. He might go on a free at the end of the season but his value to the club until that contract runs out is potentially huge.

And he may well still stay if we go up anyway.
