Huzzah! Top effort, that.

If your spinner is Shane Warne then maybe... but Moeen Ali, really??
He was just saying how unlikely it was that Ali would get a wicket, coming on to bowl when the two batsmen were so well set...
Surely with 2 new batsmen you bring back your best bowler Anderson??
He's flogged him to death already. Jimmy has already bowled 11 overs. Cook is clueless he really is. That whole first 33 overs was Cook just praying for some Jimmy magic. In the end he had no choice to bring Ali on and he delivered.
Key session ahead... match still well balanced... either team could make a serious move in these 35 overs.
cant find the exact figure but Brian Statham played test cricket from 1951 to 1965 and Freddie Truman 1952 to 1965. They must have played many together as they are listed as opening bowler partnership.
I'll agree with you it's a key session, in fact it's probably a key first 10 overs. In terms of balanced, very much in NZ's favour right now,
Fairly sure that combined Broad and Anderson have probably taken as many wickets in tandem as those partnerships, or are very close.
Maybe Cook is right.
Just try **** all. Just keep bowling to a standard field and hope for the best. Don't bother experimenting, trying the short ball, trying some spin. All that is probably a waste of time compared to just keep the same stuff going.
It is hardly Cook's fault that he hasn't got someone to bowl left arm over at 95mph.
