Peterborough - FA Cup 5th round 1985 - loads of snow and red scarves, and the one and only time I ever went on the coach, remember it like it was yesterday!

Nathan Jones used to play for my home town team Merthyr Tydfil!

You could atleast have contributed to the thread by saying your first Albion away game, was a Cardiff home game.

Mine would have been the FA Cup away to Leyton Orient, 1998. Lost 4-2 but still one of my favourite ever matches. It was truly epic, the celebrations when we scored and the atmosphere even before the kick off was just amazing. The balloons, the chanting, the fans packed tightly together in that classic old stand. Good, good memories!

Bloody Richards scoring a hattrick, mind. :(

Also, technically, my first ever Albion match was the 3-1 defeat to Exeter in the first season at the Priestfield, that should really count as an away game aswell! I was only a wee nipper, aged 10. Ah, the bus ride was the highlight.

Does the play-off final count? If so the 3-1 defeat to notts county was my first away game. If not then it would be the game away to Swindon the following season. We lost 2-1. Went up on the junior seagulls coach and played a match against the junior robins(also lost). Thinking about it defeat seems to be pretty central to my Albion 'career', we lost my first ever home game aswell 3-1 to Bradford City.

I can't remember what was my first away game (or my first home game for that matter) The earliest i definitely know i went to was on Saturday 13th May 1989, last away game of the season away to Stoke City, finishing 2-2 (but there may be earlier away game(s) i went to but i can't remember.)

blackpool away is the earliest i can remember, finished 2-2 with our keeper saving a penalty in the 90th min and them scoring from the resulting corner! anybody remember the year?

December 2001. Freezing cold, Bloomfield Road in those days was literally a derelict wreck and Blackpool couldn't afford to finish the work on the two new stands that were being built. Simon Royce saved the penalty, and you're spot on, from the corner a wonder goal, twenty five yard volley into the top corner.

I'm exiled in manchester and always get sad when I see the travelling fans getting back on the coaches, sometimes wish I could get on :lolol:

First away game was Ipswich (cant remember the year, perhaps late 80's or very early 90's), last game of the season, we were beaten

Palace, Boxing Day(?) early 80's when the palace fan got stabbed and the coaches were not allowed to leave until the police had searched them all. I think we won (dont remember the game at all), but I was more concerned about getting home unscathed than anything else. I remember the walk from the away end to the coach at the other end of the ground at the end of the match was not the most pleasant experience I have ever had!!

One of the more memorable away trips was an evening kick off at Wimbledon at Plough Lane in 1984, when the crowd was 3000 and 2000 of those were Brighton!! We still lost though (1-0, Alan Cork, I think).

Bloody hell, I'm struggling to remember. I THINK it was Palace away in about 1975. We won 1-0 and this was before the rivalry so it wasn't the big fixture it became, indeed I was in with the Palace fans (I was with my Dad who was Palace) and when Brighton scored the place was virtually silent.

Pretty sure that was my first, I don't think I went to any other away games before that.

Was going through those thinking 'I was there'...

Mine was away to Leyton Orient, or just Orient as they were then; went with my Uncle who was a life long O's fan, as are all of my cousins. I think it was a draw, either 1-1 or 0-0 - ordinary, dull, early season third division game and nothing to write home about.

Oldham Away - FA Cup 3rd round on the dreaded plastic pitch. I think they were unbeaten in 40 or so games on it at the time. I think it was 88 / 89 ish.

Which has got me thinking ... I was 13 at the time.... so how many 13 year olds go to away games without the parents these days????

In London village.
Palace in the 70s. It was very "interesting".

Not unlike the first away game of lots of kids last Saturday, I guess.

A train trip with my dad to a big fourth round FA Cup match. A great day out, a HUGE stadium, and a defeat that didn't spoil anything. I was 9.

Tottenham Hotspur 4 Newport County 1. I can still remember every detail of Ken Hollyman's goal for Newport. It was VERY muddy.

Remember this one. It was the season before the rivalry really kicked in and there was only about 5,000 there. We scored very early in the game, if memory serves me correctly an on loan journeyman striker Barry Butlin scored the goal??

Derby away, 2002, ref was a bastard - blatent push on Hinshelwood.

Was there. Hinshelwood fell forward into the box and onto the ball. Everyone in the ground saw the foul except the three men in black!!!!

vs the scum. I believe it was a replay in the cup in 1976, and ended 1-1.

That was mine too.

was that the year we played them 4 times before going out?
vaguely remember going to a replay at craven cottage?

Close but no cigar. That tie is Albion folklore and shame on you for not getting it right. Two replays, second game at Palace and the third at Stamford Bridge where we had a legit goal disallowed and Graham Cross penalised for encroachment cost us a goal from the penalty spot. Soon followed by Mullery's gesture to the Palace scum and Ron Challis probably never setting foot in Sussex again!!!!

Oxford United Sept 1963 evening game. I was living in Aylesbury then and went on the bus, but to catch the last bus home had to leave 5min before the end. I was not sure of the result until the next morning.
